Reinforcements and augmentations with the long head of the biceps tendon in shoulder surgery: a narrative review

open access: yesEFORT Open Reviews
The long head of the biceps tendon (LHBT) has recently emerged as a therapeutic option for various shoulder pathologies. Synthetic materials and allografts have not shown sufficient resistance or favorable outcomes to restore rotator cuff native tissue ...

Non-Geometric Fluxes, Quasi-Hopf Twist Deformations and Nonassociative Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We analyse the symmetries underlying nonassociative deformations of geometry in non-geometric R-flux compactifications which arise via T-duality from closed strings with constant geometric fluxes. Starting from the non-abelian Lie algebra of translations

An independently validated nomogram for isocitrate dehydrogenase-wild-type glioblastoma patient survival. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundIn 2016, the World Health Organization reclassified the definition of glioblastoma (GBM), dividing these tumors into isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-wild-type and IDH-mutant GBM, where the vast majority of GBMs are IDH-wild-type.

Temozolomide-induced hypermutation is associated with distant recurrence and reduced survival after high-grade transformation of low-grade IDH-mutant gliomas.

open access: yesNeuro-Oncology, 2021
BACKGROUND Chemotherapy improves overall survival after surgery and radiotherapy for newly diagnosed high-risk IDH-mutant low-grade gliomas, but a proportion of patients treated with temozolomide (TMZ) will develop recurrent tumors with TMZ-induced ...

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Treatment of IDH-mutant glioma in the INDIGO era

open access: yesnpj Precision Oncology
Gliomas are the most common primary brain tumor and are uniformly lethal. Despite significant advancements in understanding the genetic landscape of gliomas, standard-of-care has remained largely unchanged.
