Regulating Tumor Metabolic Reprogramming with Biomimetic Co‐Delivery of Simvastatin and Kynureninase for Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After the intravenous injection of biomimetic and pH/ROS‐responsive PTSK@CRM, the nanoparticles can be accumulated in tumors and release Sim and KYNase to inhibit the tumor growth, regulate the metabolism of cholesterol and Kyn, and reverse the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.

Engineering Osteoimmune Responses with Functionalized Orthopedic Implants for Post‐Operative Osteosarcoma Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor with limited treatment options and a terrible prognosis. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent development of osteoimmunomodulatory implants for post‐operative osteosarcoma treatment, of which the potential utility in evoking durable anti‐osteosarcoma immunity and accelerating bone

Indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) Mediates the Suppression of T Cells by IFN-γ Primed Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in the Treatment of Psoriasis-Like Inflammation

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark
Background: Psoriasis is a chronic and incurable skin inflammation driven by an abnormal immune response. Our study aims to investigate the potential of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) primed mesenchymal stem cells (IMSCs) in targeting T cells to

High indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO) activity is linked to primary resistance to immunotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)

open access: yesTranslational Lung Cancer Research, 2020
Background Metabolic profiling in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) may identify key metabolic vulnerabilities and shows enormous discovery potential. Preclinical studies showed that metabolic rewiring in cancer plays an essential role in modulation of ...

Cancer Stem Cells Shift Metabolite Acetyl‐Coenzyme A to Abrogate the Differentiation of CD103+ T Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lei et al. demonstrate that cancer stem cells (CSCs) play a pivotal role in impairing the differentiation of CD103+ T cells in patients with non‐small‐cell lung cancer. The key mechanism involves CSC‐derived acetyl‐CoA, which disrupts CD103+ T cell differentiation by sequentially inducing acetylation and ubiquitination of the Blimp‐1 protein. Targeting

CD4/CD8 + T cells, DC subsets, Foxp3, and IDO expression are predictive indictors of gastric cancer prognosis

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2019
The tumor microenvironment represents an abnormal niche containing numerous factors, such as T cells, dendritic cells (DCs), regulatory T cells (Tregs), and indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase (IDO), involved in maintaining immune homeostasis and tolerance.

IL4I1⁺ Macrophages and TDO2⁺ Myofibroblasts Drive AhR‐Mediated Immunosuppression and Ferroptosis Resistance in Solid Predominant Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Solid predominant lung adenocarcinoma exhibits an immune‐excluded, ferroptosis‐resistant niche enriched with IL4I1⁺ TAMs and TDO2⁺ myCAFs. Spatial and multi‐omics analyses reveal AhR‐driven crosstalk that promotes T cell exhaustion and therapy resistance. Blocking AhR with CH‐223191 restores ferroptosis sensitivity, and its combination with ferroptosis

The Unspotted Impact of Global Inflation and Economic Crisis on The Nigerian Healthcare System

open access: yesAsia Pacific Journal of Health Management, 2023
Inflation, the rise in prices of goods and services, has been on an exponential rise over the past few years globally. The excess inflation and the devaluation of the Nigerian currency has aggravated the problem of poor healthcare funding in the country.

Reversal of IDO-mediated cancer immune suppression by systemic kynurenine depletion with a therapeutic enzyme

open access: yesNature Biotechnology, 2018
Increased tryptophan (Trp) catabolism in the tumor microenvironment (TME) can mediate immune suppression by upregulation of interferon (IFN)-γ-inducible indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO1) and/or ectopic expression of the predominantly liver-restricted ...
