Discrete symmetries, weak coupling conjecture and scale separation in AdS vacua
We argue that in theories of quantum gravity with discrete gauge symmetries, e.g. Z k , the gauge couplings of U(1) gauge symmetries become weak in the limit of large k, as g → k −α with α a positive order 1 coefficient.

Regulation of cilium length and intraflagellar transport by the RCK-kinases ICK and MOK in renal epithelial cells. [PDF]
Primary cilia are important sensory organelles. They exist in a wide variety of lengths, which could reflect different cell-specific functions. How cilium length is regulated is unclear, but it probably involves intraflagellar transport (IFT), which ...

Characterization of mouse IFT complex B [PDF]
AbstractThe primary cilium plays a key role in the development of mammals and in the maintenance of health. Primary cilia are assembled and maintained by the process of intraflagellar transport (IFT). In this work, we characterize mouse IFT complex B by identifying all of the mammalian orthologues of complex B and B‐associated proteins previously ...

We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.

Cilia/flagella are assembled and maintained by the process of intraflagellar transport (IFT), a highly conserved mechanism involving more than 20 IFT proteins. However, the functions of individual IFT proteins are mostly unclear.

Flexible n‐type Bi2Te3 thin films require improved room‐temperature figure of merit (ZT) and mechanical stability. We show that synergistic Bi–Te antisite tuning and crystalline–amorphous hybridization optimizes carrier concentration, mobility, and phonon scattering.

Problem of Statistical Model in Deep Inelastic Scattering Phenomenology
Recent Deep Inelastic data leads to an up-down quark asymmetry of the nucleon sea. Explanations of the flavour asymmetry and the di-lepton production in proton-nucleus collisions call for a temperature $T \approx 100$ MeV in a statistical model.

Loss of ift122, a Retrograde Intraflagellar Transport (IFT) Complex Component, Leads to Slow, Progressive Photoreceptor Degeneration Due to Inefficient Opsin Transport [PDF]
In the retina, aberrant opsin transport from cell bodies to outer segments leads to retinal degenerative diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa. Opsin transport is facilitated by the intraflagellar transport (IFT) system which mediates the bidirectional ...

Gas injection can increase oil recovery because the gas–oil interfacial tension is less than the water–oil interfacial tension (IFT) and tends to zero in the miscibility state.
