Aerobic exercise and resistance exercise alleviate skeletal muscle atrophy through IGF-1/IGF-1R-PI3K/Akt pathway in mice with myocardial infarction.

American Journal of Physiology - Cell Physiology, 2021
OBJECTIVES Myocardial infarction (MI)-induced heart failure (HF) is commonly accompanied with profound effects on skeletal muscle. With the process of MI-induced HF, perturbations in skeletal muscle contribute to muscle atrophy.

IGF-1 signaling and aging

Experimental Gerontology, 2004
We briefly compare calorie restriction, GHRH-R and Pit-1 mutants with knockout phenotypes of GH receptor, IGF-1 receptor and p66Shc, to make some general conclusions. Growth, fertility and longevity phenotypes may dissociate in some of these mutants, and we try to interpret this.

Experimental Research on IGF‐1

Acta Paediatrica, 1986
ABSTRACT. IGF‐1 has been produced by recombinant DNA technology; the host cell is a yeast. Studies in hypophysectomized rats show that IGF‐1 has little growth promoting effect unless given by infusion at high doses, and priming with bovine growth hormone did not produce any potentiation. In vitro studies reveal that IGF‐1 cross‐reacts with the insulin

Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), IGF-1 density, and IGF-1/PSA ratio for prostate cancer detection

Urology, 1999
Recent studies suggest an association between increased serum levels of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and an increased risk of prostate cancer (PCa). We prospectively analyzed the value of IGF-1, IGF-density (IGFD), and IGF-1/prostate-specific antigen (PSA) ratio for early detection of prostate cancer.IGF-1, IGFD, and IGF-1/PSA ratio were ...

Recombinant expression of IGF-1 and LR3 IGF-1 fused with xylanase in Pichia pastoris

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2023
Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is a pleiotropic protein hormone and has become an attractive therapeutic target because of its multiple roles in various physiological processes, including growth, development, and metabolism. However, its production is hindered by low heterogenous protein expression levels in various expression systems and hard to

Molecular IGF-1 and IGF-1 Receptor Defects: From Genetics to Clinical Management

2013
Molecular defects of the insulin-like growth factor 1 gene (IGF1) are rare in the human. Only three homozygous and two families with heterozygous mutations of the IGF1 gene have been described, resulting in a variable degree of intrauterine and postnatal growth retardation, microcephaly, developmental delay and deafness.

S-nitrosylation of the IGF-1 receptor disrupts the cell proliferative action of IGF-1

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2017
The insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R) is a disulfide-linked heterotetramer containing two α-subunits and two β-subunits. Earlier studies demonstrate that nitric oxide (NO) can adversely affect IGF-1 action in the central nervous system.

Growth Hormone/IGF-1

1996
The syndrome of cancer cachexia is associated with complex metabolic changes leading to progressive weight loss. In the absence of effective treatment, this malnourished state leads to decreased survival in cancer patients, independent of the stage of disease.
