Interaction of ovine somatomedin-C/IGF-I and IGF-I with specific IGF-I receptors on cultured muscle-derived fibroblasts

Acta Endocrinologica, 1987
Abstract. Binding of 125I-insulin-like growth factor-I and 125I-ovine somatomedin-C/IGF-I to monolayer cultures of muscle-derived ovine fibroblasts is described. Preliminary competitive binding experiments indicate that ovine fibroblasts possess independent cell surface receptors for IGF-I.

GH/IGF-I and Bone

2018
Growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) are relevant regulators of bone homeostasis throughout human life, acting on both the trabecular and cortical bone [1]. The anabolic effects of these hormones are important to reach an adequate bone mass during puberty and early adulthood—a critical determinant for the future risk of ...

Gene regulation by IGF‐I

Molecular Reproduction and Development, 1993
AbstractConstitutive overexpression of the insulin‐like growth factor‐I (IGF‐I) receptor makes 3T3 cells capable of growing in serum‐free medium supplemented solely with IGF‐I to the total exclusion of the platelet‐derived growth factor (PDGF) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptors, the other two receptors that are required for the growth of 3T3 ...

Utility of Free IGF-I Measurements

Pituitary, 2007
For nearly 30 years, the endogenous bioactivity of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) has been estimated by its circulating concentrations of immunoreactive IGF-I, obtained after either removal or inactivation of the IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), and today serum/plasma total IGF-I serves as a useful parameter in the diagnosis and clinical control of

Intraovarian IGF-I System

1991
As the significance of putative intraovarian regulators becomes increasingly recognized, much of the attention centers on insulin-like growth factors (IGFs). Indeed, a large body of evidence now suggests the existence of an intraovarian IGF system complete with ligands, receptors, and binding proteins.

Clinical proteomics: Insights from IGF-I

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2018
Clinical proteomics aims to deliver cost-effective multiplexing of potentially hundreds of diagnostic proteins, including distinct protein isoforms. The analytical strategy known as targeted proteomics is particularly promising because it is compatible with robust mass spectrometry (MS)-platforms already implemented in many clinical laboratories for ...

IGF I Receptor Phosphorylation

1989
Physiologically, cells are simultaneously exposed to a plethora of hormones. The way in which a cell responds to stimulation by a specific hormone depends not only upon the concentration of that hormone, but upon the presence of other hormones as well.

IGF-I, marqueur nutritionnel

Intraovarian regulation: the IGF-I example

Reproduction, Fertility and Development, 1992
A large body of information now supports the existence of an intraovarian system of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) replete with ligands, receptors, and binding proteins. The intraovarian IGF system is most likely concerned with the amplification of gonadotrophin hormonal action, other potential regulatory roles remaining speculative at this time ...
