The Value of IGF-1 and IGFBP-1 in Patients With Heart Failure With Reduced, Mid-range, and Preserved Ejection Fraction [PDF]
BackgroundPrevious studies have reported inconsistent results regarding the implications of deranged insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1)/insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 1 (IGFBP-1) axis in patients with heart failure (HF).

Cumulative mutagenesis of the basic residues in the 201-218 region of insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-binding protein-5 results in progressive loss of both IGF-I binding and inhibition of IGF-I biological action [PDF]
We have reported previously that mutation of two conserved nonbasic amino acids (G203 and Q209) within the highly basic 201–218 region in the C-terminal domain of IGF-binding protein-5 (IGFBP-5) decreases binding to IGFs.

IGFBP-5 enhances epithelial cell adhesion and protects epithelial cells from TGFβ1-induced mesenchymal invasion [PDF]
TGFβ1 is a major fibrotic factor and its actions involve induction of epithelial cell death, together with the stimulation and transdifferentiation of fibroblasts into collagen- and fibronectin-secreting myofibroblasts.

IGFBP-6: At the Crossroads of Immunity, Tissue Repair and Fibrosis
Insulin-like growth factors binding protein-6 (IGFBP-6) is involved in a relevant number of cellular activities and represents an important factor in the immune response, particularly in human dendritic cells (DCs).

Associations of insulin and insulin-like growth factors with physical performance in old age in the boyd orr and caerphilly studies. [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: Insulin and the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) system regulate growth and are involved in determining muscle mass, strength and body composition.

An analysis of IGFBP evolution [PDF]
To perform a synonymous, non-synonymous codon mutational analysis of the IGFBP gene family and identify mechanisms by which the IGFBP subfamilies diverged. We identified 78 intact nucleotide sequences from 6 IGFBP subfamilies and 12 different species and used them for phylogenetic and synonymous, non-synonymous codon mutational analysis.
