Arsenic in the groundwater aquifers of the Venetian Plain: geochemical modelling and occurrence of As-sulfides minerals, a review of data from the medio Brenta domain (Italy)

open access: yesAcque Sotterranee
The Venetian Plain is known for areas with high concentrations of arsenic (As) in groundwater (up to more than 400 μg/L; exceptionally 647 μg/L, in selected areas). A study area was chosen, north of Padua, which exhibits typical residential, industrial,

The Inverse Gamma-Gamma Prior for Optimal Posterior Contraction and Multiple Hypothesis Testing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We study the well-known problem of estimating a sparse $n$-dimensional unknown mean vector $\theta = (\theta_1, ..., \theta_n)$ with entries corrupted by Gaussian white noise. In the Bayesian framework, continuous shrinkage priors which can be expressed as scale-mixture normal densities are popular for obtaining sparse estimates of $\theta$.

The Emerging Importance of IgG Fab Glycosylation in Immunity

open access: yesJournal of Immunology, 2016
Human IgG is the most abundant glycoprotein in serum and is crucial for protective immunity. In addition to conserved IgG Fc glycans, ∼15–25% of serum IgG contains glycans within the variable domains.

Dysfunctional tetraspanin 7 (TSP‐7) in Caenorhabditis elegans promotes; increases in average life‐ & health‐span, stress‐induced survival and motility

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The C. elegans tetraspanin‐7 (tsp‐7) is a homologue of human CD63, which is a negative regulator of autophagy. The C. elegans strain, tm5761, has a dysfunctional (knockout) tsp‐7 gene. When compared to the wild‐type strain, the tm5761 strain shows increased: life‐ and health‐span; thermotolerance, and stress‐induced locomotion.

IgG Donor-Specific Anti-Human HLA Antibody Subclasses and Kidney Allograft Antibody-Mediated Injury.

open access: yesJournal of the American Society of Nephrology, 2016
Antibodies may have different pathogenicities according to IgG subclass. We investigated the association between IgG subclasses of circulating anti-human HLA antibodies and antibody-mediated kidney allograft injury.

Immunoglobulin carbohydrate requirement for formation of an IgG-IgG complex.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1979
In addition to their Fc oligosaccharides, some immunoglobulin molecules have oligosaccharides linked to variable segments of H or L chains. These Fab oligosaccharides are potential determinants of antibody specificity. This possibility was considered in a study of the IgG antiglobulin from a patient with IgG-IgG complexes.

A non‐fluorescent immunohistochemistry method for measuring autophagy flux using MAP1LC3/LC3 and SQSTM1 as core markers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We introduce an immunohistochemistry method to measure autophagy flux, highlighting the active degradation and recycling of cellular waste. This cost‐effective approach uses tissue samples to track key markers like LC3 and SQSTM1, revealing how cells maintain health or respond to diseases such as cancer. It bridges the gap between research and clinical

MOG-IgG in NMO and related disorders: a multicenter study of 50 patients. Part 4: Afferent visual system damage after optic neuritis in MOG-IgG-seropositive versus AQP4-IgG-seropositive patients

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2016
BackgroundAntibodies against myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG-IgG) have been reported in patients with aquaporin-4 antibody (AQP4-IgG)-negative neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD).
