Interleukin-2 (IL-2) and its receptor
Medical Oncology and Tumor Pharmacotherapy, 1986The interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor system which is responsible for T-cell cycle progression is a unique hormone-receptor system in that both the ligand and the receptor need to be induced. In the present article I will review the biological and molecular characteristics of IL-2 and its receptor, as well as the differential triggering and growth ...

Variations in serum soluble IL‐2 receptor concentration
Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, 1994Soluble interleukin‐2 receptor (sIL‐2R) concentrations were measured in the sera of 18 healthy adult volunteers, 40 healthy children aged 5 months ‐ 16 years 8 months and cord blood from 10 babies, using two commercially available ELISA kits (T‐cell Sciences and Serotec).

Sharing of the Interleukin-2 (IL-2) Receptor γ Chain Between Receptors for IL-2 and IL-4
Science, 1993The γ chain of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor is an indispensable subunit for IL-2 binding and intracellular signal transduction. A monoclonal antibody to the γ chain, TUGm2, inhibited IL-2 binding to the functional IL-2 receptors and also inhibited IL-4-induced cell growth and the high-affinity binding of IL-4 to the CTLL-2 mouse T cell line ...

Histamine Blocks Interleukin 2 (IL-2) Gene Expression and Regulates IL-2 Receptor Expression
Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology, 1990Histamine inhibited the proliferative response of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) to the T cell mitogen Phytohemagglutinin-P (PHA-P) in a dose-dependent fashion. This inhibition was mediated via the H2 receptor since cimetidine, a known H2 antagonist, removed the inhibition, whereas the addition of the H1 antagonist Diphenhydramine did ...

The IL-2/IL-2 receptor system: a target for rational immune intervention
Trends in Pharmacological Sciences, 1993The expression of interleukin 2 (IL-2), induction of its multisubunit receptor and subsequent interplay of this ligand with its receptor are pivotal events in T-cell activation. Our present understanding of the normal IL-2/IL-2R system and of disorders in this network in disease opens the possibility for more specific immune intervention.

Toad splenocytes bind human IL-2 and anti-human IL-2 receptor antibody specifically
Immunology Letters, 1987Human r-DNA IL-2 and fluorescent (Fl) mouse anti-human IL-2 receptor antibody have been tested separately and in competition with each other for their capacities to bind to the splenocytes of Xenopus laevis, the South African clawed toad. Binding by Fl*-mouse anti-DNP antibody of the same subclass (IgG1, kappa) was used as a control.

Receptors for Interleukin-2 (IL-2)
1995Abstract The a chain (p55, Tac) of the human IL-2 receptor, encoded by a single gene on chromosome 10, p14--15 (Leonard et al. 1985a), is produced as a 272 amino acid (aa) precursor with a 21 aa signal sequence (GenBank accession number K63122) (Leonard et al. 1985b).

Transcription and translation dependent induction of interleukin 2 (IL-2) and IL-2 receptors
Immunology Letters, 1984Our previous findings on the expression of Interleukin 2 (IL-2) receptors have shown that under the influence of certain drugs, it was possible to dissociate IL-2 production from the appearance of IL-2 receptors on human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL).

Abstract Binding of IL-2 to the high affinity IL-2R results in the formation of a stable complex consisting of IL-2 and at least three distinct, noncovalently associated receptor subunits: IL-2R alpha (p55), IL-2R beta (p70-75), and IL-2R gamma (p64). Ligand binding also stimulates the rapid endocytosis of this receptor complex.

AbstractMouse fibroblasts do not ordinarily express components for the interleukin‐2 receptor (IL‐2Rα, β, and γ). An analysis of these cells by reverse transcription followed by polymerase chain reaction, however, indicates the presence of transcripts specific for the IL‐2R β and γ genes. Transfection of the cDNA for the α chain of the human IL‐2R into
