PassStyles: Graphical Authentication Using Mixed Face Styles

open access: yesIEEE Access
We propose PassStyles, a graphical authentication system that utilizes images generated by StyleGAN. PassStyles authenticates users who successfully select one correct image from nine generated images multiple times in a row. The benefit of PassStyles is

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

An Efficient Smart Card Based Authentication Scheme Using Image Encryption

open access: yes, 2013
[[abstract]]To date, there are many authentication schemes have been proposed for smart cards. However, when a smart card is stolen or the authentication token is intercepted, most of these schemes will be insecure. In 2012, Chang et al.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Toward a Robust Image Authentication Method Surviving JPEG Lossy Compression

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a robust image authentication approach that distinguishes malicious attacks from JPEG lossy compression. The authentication procedure calculates the relationships between important DCT coefficients in each pair of DCT blocks and ...

Using content based image retrieval techniques for the indexing and retrieval of Thai handwritten documents

open access: yes, 2010
This paper proposes the use of content base image retrieval (CBIR) techniques for indexing and retrieval of handwritten documents in Thai language. Issues associated with Thai handwritten documents are the lack of spacing between words, multi-level ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

A Fragile Digital Image Authentication Scheme Inspired by Wet Paper Codes

open access: yes, 2009
[[abstract]]Image authentication is an important research topic of maintaining the integrity of digital image contents. Fragile image authentication is the technique for achieving the goal of image content integrity maintenance.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
