Multiplex single‐cell profiling of putative cancer stem cell markers ALDH1, SOX9, SOX2, CD44, CD133 and CD15 in endometrial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

Effect of Quantitative Nuclear Image Features on Recurrence of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) of the Breast

open access: yesCancer Informatics, 2008
Background: Nuclear grade has been associated with breast DCIS recurrence and progression to invasive carcinoma; however, our previous study of a cohort of patients with breast DCIS did not find such an association with outcome. Fifty percent of patients

Image Analysis Cytometry of Dysplastic Nevi

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1990
Computerized image analysis was used to assess nuclear atypia in 24 dysplastic nevi (DN), 19 CN (CN), and five thin melanomas. DN were selected for the study using architectural criteria alone. Feulgen-stained, 6-um sections were analyzed with a microTICAS cytometer. At least 100 nuclei were measured in each case. The standard deviation of nuclear area,

Stochastic variation in the FOXM1 transcription program mediates replication stress tolerance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cellular heterogeneity is a major cause of drug resistance in cancer. Segeren et al. used single‐cell transcriptomics to investigate gene expression events that correlate with sensitivity to the DNA‐damaging drugs gemcitabine and prexasertib. They show that dampened expression of transcription factor FOXM1 and its target genes protected cells against ...

CD24 signalling through macrophage Siglec-10 is a target for cancer immunotherapy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ovarian cancer and triple-negative breast cancer are among the most lethal diseases affecting women, with few targeted therapies and high rates of metastasis. Cancer cells are capable of evading clearance by macrophages through the overexpression of anti-

Lensless wide-field fluorescent imaging on a chip using compressive decoding of sparse objects. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate the use of a compressive sampling algorithm for on-chip fluorescent imaging of sparse objects over an ultra-large field-of-view (>8 cm(2)) without the need for any lenses or mechanical scanning.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Additional Techniques in Serous Effusions

open access: yesAnalytical Cellular Pathology, 2002
Cytological examination is a valuable diagnostic tool in case of a serous effusion. The firstmanifestation of malignancy may be an effusion of the pleural, pericardial, or peritoneal cavity, especially in carcinoma of the ovary, or lung, and malignant ...

Multiparametric Image Cytometry in Mycosis Fungoides

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1996
Eighteen cases of early mycosis fungoides were compared with 18 cases of eczematous dermatitis by multiparametric image cytometry. A minimum of 100 lymphocytes was measured in each case. A large number of measurements was acquired for each lymphocyte, characterizing nuclear DNA content, area, shape, and texture.
