Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Additional Techniques in Serous Effusions

open access: yesAnalytical Cellular Pathology, 2002
Cytological examination is a valuable diagnostic tool in case of a serous effusion. The firstmanifestation of malignancy may be an effusion of the pleural, pericardial, or peritoneal cavity, especially in carcinoma of the ovary, or lung, and malignant ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Diagnosis of Bladder Cancer with Urinary Cytology, Immunocytology and DNA-Image-Cytometry1

open access: yesAnalytical Cellular Pathology, 2001
DNA‐image‐cytometry and antibodies directed against the Lewis X‐ and the 486p 3/12 antigen were applied to improve diagnostic accuracy of urinary cytology for the detection of bladder cancer.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Automation in image cytometry : continuous HCS and kinetic image cytometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Image based high content analysis (HCA) and high content screens (HCS) are powerful tools used predominately in the study of cellular and molecular dynamics, function, and structure and for cDNA, RNAi and compound library screens.

Effect of Quantitative Nuclear Image Features on Recurrence of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) of the Breast

open access: yesCancer Informatics, 2008
Background: Nuclear grade has been associated with breast DCIS recurrence and progression to invasive carcinoma; however, our previous study of a cohort of patients with breast DCIS did not find such an association with outcome. Fifty percent of patients

Malignancy-Associated Changes in Breast Tissue Detected by Image Cytometry

open access: yesAnalytical Cellular Pathology, 2000
In several tissues, nuclear differences have been described in normal‐appearing cells from patients with invasive carcinomas compared to cases without invasive carcinoma, a phenomenon known as malignancy‐associated changes (MACs).
