Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1591-1611, June 2026.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Development and application of a set of mesh-based and age-dependent Chinese family phantoms for radiation protection dosimetry: Preliminary Data for external photon beams

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
A group of mesh-based and age-dependent family phantoms for Chinese populations were developed in this study. We implemented a method for deforming original RPI-AM and RPI-AF models into phantoms of different ages: 5, 10 ,15 and adult.

Deep learning versus $\ell^1$-minimization for compressed sensing photoacoustic tomography

open access: yes, 2019
We investigate compressed sensing (CS) techniques for reducing the number of measurements in photoacoustic tomography (PAT). High resolution imaging from CS data requires particular image reconstruction algorithms.

Subjective evaluation of image quality based on images obtained with a breast tissue phantom: comparison with a conventional image quality phantom

open access: yesThe British Journal of Radiology, 1995
Abstract A breast tissue phantom was used for assessment of mammographic image quality. Three images, exposed to give a reference area film density of 1.25 ± 0.03, were obtained for each of five different film/kV combinations. Each of three radiologists carried out a series of three blind readings, in which the 15 films were ranked ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

An ultra-fast digital diffuse optical spectroscopic imaging system for neoadjuvant chemotherapy monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Up to 20% of breast cancer patients who undergo presurgical (neoadjuvant) chemotherapy have no response to treatment. Standard-of-care imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, mammography, and ultrasound, measure anatomical features and tumor size that ...

Designing microarray phantoms for hyperspectral imaging validation

open access: yesBiomedical Optics Express, 2012
The design and fabrication of custom-tailored microarrays for use as phantoms in the characterization of hyperspectral imaging systems is described. Corresponding analysis methods for biologically relevant samples are also discussed. An image-based phantom design was used to program a microarrayer robot to print prescribed mixtures of dyes onto ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
