The d-amino acid oxidase of Neurospora [PDF]

open access: yes, 1944
Among artificially produced mutants of the mold Neurospora have been found strains lacking the ability to synthesize specific amino acids (1, 2). In the course of biochemical and genetic studies of this group of mutants it was observed that some of the ...

Variability in intracellular localization of D‐amino acid oxidase in choroid plexus epithelial cells

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
D‐amino acid oxidase (DAO) in choroid plexus epithelial cells (CPECs) shows vesicle‐like localization by histological and super‐resolution analyses. DAO colocalizes with peroxisomal, Golgi, endosomal, lysosomal, autophagosomal, and exosomal markers, indicating diverse subcellular distribution. This suggests DAO is transported within CPECs to metabolize

Contrasting effects of different molecular crowding environments on base‐pair opening/closing dynamics of DNA triplex structures

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Base‐pair opening and closing regulate nucleic‐acid structure, stability, and function, but how these motions behave under intracellular molecular crowding remains unclear. Using NMR, we quantified these dynamics in a DNA triplex under two crowder‐reconstituted environments that mimic cellular crowding.

Synthesis of 7-Acyl-2,4-disubstituted Pteridines by Radical Nucleophilic Substitution and Displacement Reactions

open access: yesPteridines, 2004
2,4-Disubstituted pteridine derivatives (1-3) react with acyl radicals very selectively in position 7 by a nucleophilic Substitution mechanism (4-10).

A new variant of the Friedlander reaction in the synthesis of 7,8-dihydro-6H-furo[2,3-b] quinolin-5-ones [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия Саратовского университета. Новая серия: Серия Химия. Биология. Экология
Hydrogenated derivatives of acridine exhibit various types of biological activity – their antibacterial, antitumor, antiviral, psychoactive properties are known. Using the example of heteroanalogs of tacrine, a known cholinesterase inhibitor, it is

Exploring natural sunscreens: UVB protection and antioxidant properties in gadusol‐rich fish roes extracts

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Gadusol‐rich extracts provide effective UVB protection and antioxidant activity in HaCaT cells and C. elegans, highlighting their potential as natural photochemoprotective agents for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. It also demonstrates remarkable in vitro antioxidant capacity and thermal stability over time.

open access: yesAnnals of Mechnikov's Institute
Introduction. Amino acids have an immunomodulatory, antidepressant effect, they are components of collagen, reduce the level of triglycerides in the blood, take an active part in the synthesis and assimilation of vitamins, etc. Natural amino acids have a

Asymmetric Transformations of α,β‐Unsaturated Oxazolidinones Catalyzed by C2‐Symmetric Chiral Iron Triad Complexes

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 9, 5 May 2026.
This review highlights the evolution of highly enantioselective oxazolidinone transformations enabled by C2‐symmetric ligands, with emphasis on chiral iron triad complexes as cost‐effective, environmentally benign alternatives to late‐transition‐metal catalysts.

Biochemical and structural characterization of a reactive intermediate deaminase A homolog from Streptococcus sanguinis

open access: yesScientific Reports
2-Aminoacrylate (2AA) is a short-lived enamine generated as a catalytic intermediate in the dehydration of serine by serine/threonine dehydratase enzymes. 2AA is a metabolic stressor capable of inactivating important pyridoxal phosphate dependent enzymes
