Reconsidering the Role of Blood Cultures in Community‐Acquired Pneumonia: A Case of Co‐Infection With Streptococcus pneumoniae and Klebsiella variicola

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
We report a case of community‐acquired pneumonia. In this case, the blood culture was essential for detection of co‐infection of Streptococcus pneumoniae and Klebsiella variicola, which combination is first reported. ABSTRACT Community‐acquired pneumonia (CAP) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality.

Colistin and Biofilm‐Related Genes of Positive Escherichia coli O157:H7 in Cattle (Bos taurus) Carcasses Antibiotic Resistance Profiles, Biofilm and Molecular Characterisation of Isolates

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Antimicrobial resistance in various infectious agents poses a public health threat. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the antibiotic resistance profiles, biofilm formation abilities and molecular characterisation of colistin‐resistant Escherichia coli O157:H7 from cattle carcasses.

Antibiotic Resistance of Campylobacter Species Isolated From Foods, Animals and Humans in Iran Through One Health Approach: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Forest plot of pooled prevalence/proportion of erythromycin resistance in Campylobacter coli (a) and C. jejuni (b). C. coli isolates (0.18) had twice resistance to erythromycin than C. jejuni isolates (0.09). ABSTRACT In this study, a systematic review and meta‐analysis were conducted to consider antimicrobial resistance (AMR) rates of Campylobacter in

Characterisation of a Novel Jumbo Lytic Aeromonas dhakensis Bacteriophage P19 and Its Endolysin

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
A jumbo, lytic myovirus phage P19 against multidrug‐resistant (MDR) Aeromonas dhakensis was isolated from river water. P19 demonstrated robust lytic activity, high thermal and pH stability (pH 6–10, up to 60°C), and no genes associated with lysogeny, virulence or antimicrobial resistance. ORF_358 of P19 encodes for T4‐type lysozyme.

Hyperbaric Oxygenation of an Ozone‐Containing Steam–Water Mixture as Treatment of Infected Combat Wounds of the Limbs With Antibiotic‐Resistant Microflora

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Patients with combat wounds and injuries, presented as extensive infected and purulent defects with antibiotic‐resistant microflora, were treated in a surgical inpatient setting. Closure of extensive soft tissue defects of the limbs is possible using methods of plastic and reconstructive surgery and requires preoperative infection control. The

Infection With Mycobacterium chelonae Following Autologous Facial Fat Grafting: A Case Report and Review of Literature

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Autologous fat grafting is commonly used in cosmetic dermatology, but it can cause serious complications, including nontuberculous mycobacterial infections when done under unsterile conditions. Case Presentation We report a 39‐year‐old woman who developed multiple discharging facial abscesses 1 month after undergoing autologous fat ...
