Synchrony and social connection in immersive Virtual Reality [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
AbstractSynchronising movements in time with others can have significant positive effects on affiliative attitudes and behaviors. To explore the generalizability of synchrony effects, and to eliminate confounds of suggestion, competence and shared intention typical of standard laboratory and field experiments, we used an Immersive Virtual Reality (VR ...

Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

Corps en immersion : continuité ou ruptures ?

open access: yesRevue Française des Sciences de l’Information et de la Communication
Should the existing differences between immersive devices (e.g. novel, immersive cinema, virtual reality) be understood in terms of degrees unfolding on the same continuum or in terms of ruptures ?

Design and Modeling of a High‐Displacement, Skin‐Integrated Flexible Electromagnetic Actuator for Haptic Interfaces in Virtual Reality

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A flexible, skin‐integrated electromagnetic actuator is developed for wearable virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) haptic systems. A tunable design model enables control over displacement and resonance frequency. The system is validated through a custom VR application with a 6 × 4 actuator array, demonstrating real‐time, spatially targeted tactile ...
