Abstract Purpose This study compares the dosimetric accuracy of deep‐learning‐based MR synthetic CT (sCT) in brain radiotherapy between the Analytical Anisotropic Algorithm (AAA) and AcurosXB (AXB). Additionally, it proposes a novel metric to predict the dosimetric accuracy of sCT for individual post‐surgical brain cases.

A cellulose-based bioassay for the colorimetric detection of pathogen DNA [PDF]
Cellulose-paper-based colorimetric bioassays may be used at the point of sampling without sophisticated equipment. This study reports the development of a colorimetric bioassay based on cellulose that can detect pathogen DNA.

Pretender punishment induced by chemical signalling in a queenless ant [PDF]
Animal societies are stages for both conflict and cooperation. Reproduction is often monopolized by one or a few individuals who behave aggressively to prevent subordinates from reproducing (for example, naked mole-rats, wasps and ants).

Simultaneous evaluation of multiple microarray surface chemistries through real-time interferometric imaging. [PDF]
Surface chemistry is a crucial aspect for microarray modality biosensor development. The immobilization capability of the functionalized surface is indeed a limiting factor for the final yield of the binding reaction.

Abstract Purpose Palliative radiotherapy comprises a significant portion of the radiation treatment workload. Volumetric‐modulated arc therapy (VMAT) improves dose conformity and, in conjunction with flattening filter free (FFF) delivery, can decrease treatment times, both of which are desirable in a population with a high probability of retreatment ...

Plasma dye coating as straightforward and widely applicable procedure for dye immobilization on polymeric materials [PDF]
Here, we introduce a novel concept for the fabrication of colored materials with significantly reduced dye leaching through covalent immobilization of the desired dye using plasmagenerated surface radicals.

Abstract This study compared three Brainlab thermoplastic masks—Cranial 4pi basic, stereotactic (Close Mask V2), and open‐face—to see how well they limited head movement during Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). Using a head phantom, we tested rotational movements (pitch, yaw, and roll) and measured displacements with the ExacTrac system.

Integrate range shifter in immobilization for proton therapy: 3D printed materials characterization [PDF]
3D printing is investigated for application in patient immobilization during proton therapy (PT). It potentially enables a merge of immobilization, range shifting and other functionality into one patient-specific structure.

Condensation and Evaporation of Mutually Repelling Particles :Steady states and limit cycles [PDF]
We study condensation and evaporation of particles which repel each other, using a simple set of rules on a square lattice. Different results are obtained for a mobile and an immobile surface layer.A two point limit cycle is observed for high temperature and low pressure in both cases. Here the coverage oscillates between a high and a low value without
