PRELIMINARY STUDY FOR USING VINYLTRIACETOXYSILANE AS PRECURSOR IN ENZYME IMMOBILIZATION BASED ON SOL-GEL METHOD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
During the last years, sol-gel technology has become a well-established method for the preparation of catalytic active monoliths, bulk, particles and thin films.

Hydroxyapatite: a new support for GGT immobilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Enzymes are efficient biocatalysts which operate under mild reaction conditions with high selectivity, low toxicity and negligible by-product formation. These characteristics make them valuable tools in making chemical processes greener. However, enzymes

Cesium immobilization in metakaolin-based geopolymers elucidated by 133Cs solid state NMR spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Geopolymers are promising candidates for nuclear-waste immobilization, and more specifically for the immobilization of radioactive cesium. Low-Si metakaolin-based geopolymers cured at temperatures of 40°C in the presence of Cs ions generate a mixture of ...

Short-Term Immobilization Promotes a Rapid Loss of Motor Evoked Potentials and Strength That Is Not Rescued by rTMS Treatment

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2021
Short-term limb immobilization results in skeletal muscle decline, but the underlying mechanisms are incompletely understood. This study aimed to determine the neurophysiologic basis of immobilization-induced skeletal muscle decline, and whether ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Immobilization of urease on activated methoxypolyethyleneglycol-5000 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Urease (E.C 3.5.1.5) was covalently immobilized on activated methoxypolyethyleneglycol-5000 which is linear, uncharged, soluble in water and nonimmunogenic. mPEG is bound to the epsilon-NH2 groups of Lysin in urease.

Enzyme or whole cell immobilization for efficient biocatalysis: focusing on novel supporting platforms and immobilization techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Biocatalysts represented by enzymes and enzyme-containing whole cells are generally fragile and easily inactivated in practical application conditions. The immobilization concept and techniques have been recognized as classic and powerful strategy for ...

Protective effects of Korean Red Ginseng against sub-acute immobilization stress-induced testicular damage in experimental rats

open access: yesJournal of Ginseng Research, 2019
Background: Excessive stress causes varied physiological and psychological disorders including male reproductive problems. Here, we attempted to investigate the protective effects of Korean Red Ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer; KRG) against sub-acute ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Recent advances in enzyme immobilization technology

open access: yesXi'an Gongcheng Daxue xuebao
As an efficient and safe biocatalyst, enzymes have been widely used in many fields such as food, medicine and environmental governance, but it is difficult to realize further industrial application due to the poor environmental stability of free enzymes.
