Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of Immune-related Adverse Events in Digestive System Related to Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2019
Immunotherapy for malignant tumors is a hot spot in current research and treatment of cancer. The activation of programmed cell death receptor-1 (PD-1) and cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA)-4 relevant signaling pathway can inhibit the ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Management of immune checkpoint inhibitor‐related rheumatic adverse events

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, 2020
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), which target the programmed cell death receptor‐1 and cytotoxic T lymphocyte‐associated antigen‐4 signaling pathways, represent remarkable breakthroughs in cancer treatment and have improved survival among patients ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Management of immune checkpoint inhibitor‐related dermatologic adverse events

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, 2020
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer treatment. The unique spectrum of immune‐related adverse events (IrAEs) may occur during treatment.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Evaluating and Optimising the Retrieval of Research Evidence for Systematic Reviews of Adverse Drug Effects and Adverse Drug Reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Systematic reviews can provide timely, reliable evidence on which to make informed decisions. In order to make balanced decisions, information is not only needed on the benefits of an intervention, but also on its adverse effects.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Pathological perspectives on immune-related adverse events

open access: yesImmunological Medicine
Over the past decade, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have moved from the research setting into routine clinical practice. Their use has expanded from single-agent therapy to combination regimens with cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted agents, and ...

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.
