Emerging Therapies in Immune Thrombocytopenia

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine, 2021
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a rare autoimmune disorder caused by peripheral platelet destruction and inappropriate bone marrow production. The management of ITP is based on the utilization of steroids, intravenous immunoglobulins, rituximab ...

Hepatocyte-derived IL-10 plays a crucial role in attenuating pathogenicity during the chronic phase of T. congolense infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Bovine African Trypanosomosis is an infectious parasitic disease affecting livestock productivity and thereby impairing the economic development of Sub-Saharan Africa. The most important trypanosome species implicated is T.

Diagnosing Immune Thrombocytopenia [PDF]

open access: yesHämostaseologie, 2019
AbstractAlthough the detection of a characteristic autoantibody can prove immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), this diagnosis is often based on the exclusion of other causes of thrombocytopenia. Direct glycoprotein (GP)-specific tests have the property required to demonstrate such a characteristic autoantibody. In contrast, platelet-associated immunoglobulin

Development of thrombocytopenia is associated with improved survival in patients treated with immunotherapy

open access: yesFuture Science OA, 2020
Background: Immune-related adverse events are associated with efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). We hypothesize that immune-mediated thrombocytopenia could be a biomarker for response to ICIs.

Platelet Activation Mechanisms and Consequences of Immune Thrombocytopenia

open access: yesCells, 2021
Autoimmune disorders are often associated with low platelet count or thrombocytopenia. In immune-induced thrombocytopenia (IIT), a common mechanism is increased platelet activity, which can have an increased risk of thrombosis.

Current Understanding of Immune Thrombocytopenia: A Review of Pathogenesis and Treatment Options

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
The management of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and the prediction of patient response to therapy still represent a significant and constant challenge in hematology. ITP is a heterogeneous disease with an unpredictable evolution.

Potential benefits and risks of clinical xenotransplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The transplantation of organs and cells from pigs into humans could overcome the critical and continuing problem of the lack of availability of deceased human organs and cells for clinical transplantation.

Envelope Determinants of Equine Lentiviral Vaccine Protection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Lentiviral envelope (Env) antigenic variation and associated immune evasion present major obstacles to vaccine development. The concept that Env is a critical determinant for vaccine efficacy is well accepted, however defined correlates of protection ...

Immune thrombocytopenia

open access: yesInternational journal of health sciences, 2022
An inherited condition with isolated thrombocytopenia, immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is still unknown in terms of the cause. A primary or secondary ITP diagnosis is determined by whether or not an underlying treatable cause exists. Diagnosis of primary ITP is based on the exclusion and hence does not have a gold standard test to validate it.
