Exploring the Causes of Low Immunization Status in School Going Children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Although a definitive immunization program has been advocated for children in our country, the immunization coverage is far from satisfactory. There is paucity of survey studies related to immunization pattern.

Should outbreak response immunization be recommended for measles outbreaks in middle- and low-income countries? An update. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Measles caused mortality in >164,000 children in 2008, with most deaths occurring during outbreaks. Nonetheless, the impact and desirability of conducting measles outbreak response immunization (ORI) in middle- and low-income countries has been ...

A Porcine Monoclonal Antibody Targeting a Conserved GP4 Epitope Protects against In Vivo Infection via the Induction of Broad‐Spectrum PRRSV Neutralization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed mAb‐5F2, a monoclonal antibody targeting conserved GP4 residues (Q48/I50), which blocks the GP4‐CD163 interaction, resulting in a 78–85% reduction in viral entry. Porcineized 5F2‐pFc prevented mortality in infected piglets, reduced pulmonary viral loads, and minimized lesions. This broad‐spectrum antibody platform overcomes vaccine

Strategic Network Formation with Attack and Immunization

open access: yes, 2016
Strategic network formation arises where agents receive benefit from connections to other agents, but also incur costs for forming links. We consider a new network formation game that incorporates an adversarial attack, as well as immunization against ...

Molecular signatures of a TLR4 agonist-adjuvanted HIV-1 vaccine candidate in humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Systems biology approaches have recently provided new insights into the mechanisms of action of human vaccines and adjuvants. Here, we investigated early transcriptional signatures induced in whole blood of healthy subjects following vaccination with a ...

Blocking Lysine Crotonylation and Aerobic Glycolysis as Targeting Strategy Against mpox Virus Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wei et al. report that MPXV infection induces aerobic glycolysis, a process mediated by the viral protein I3 through lysine crotonylation at its K102 residue. The acetyltransferase MYST1 catalyzes the crotonylation of I3 to inhibit the ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of WDR26.
