Preliminary crystallographic study of the Fc fragment of a monoclonal IgG2b murine immunoglobulin
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1983The Fe fragment of a gamma 2b murine monoclonal anti-p-azophenylarsonate antibody (R19.9, IgG2b, kappa) has been crystallized. The crystals are tetragonal, space group P41 (or P43) with unit cell dimensions: a = b = 134.3 +/- 1.1 A, c = 144.0 +/- 0.7 A.

Investigation of the Cooperative Structure of Fc Fragments from Myeloma Immunoglobulin G
Biochemistry, 1998The cooperative structure of Fc fragments prepared from myeloma human IgG1 was studied using scanning microcalorimetry and fluorescence at pH 4.2-8.0. It was shown that the first to be melted are CH2 domains whose interaction with each other is rather weak, while that with CH3 domains is strong.

IgC Fc fragments induce B cell differentiation and immunoglobulin secretion
Immunology Letters, 1989We now show that the Fc fragment is capable of inducing B cell differentiation and secretion of immunoglobulins (Igs) in human mononuclear cells from peripheral blood (PBMC). The absolute number of plasma cells observed in all individuals tested is similar.

Unsusceptibility of recombinant human Fc fragments of immunoglobulin E to thrombin
Human Antibodies, 1996Human immunoglobulin E (IgE) contains a potential recognition sequence for thrombin protease cleavage at N-terminal end of Cε3 domain responsible for binding to α chain of high affinity Fc receptor for IgE (FcεRICα, but it remains unknown for the enzyme susceptibility.

Structural Comparison of Fucosylated and Nonfucosylated Fc Fragments of Human Immunoglobulin G1
Journal of Molecular Biology, 2007Removal of the fucose residue from the oligosaccharides attached to Asn297 of human immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) results in a significant enhancement of antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) via improved IgG1 binding to Fcgamma receptor IIIa. To provide structural insight into the mechanisms of affinity enhancement, we determined the crystal ...

Effective treatment of experimental autoimmune neuritis with Fc fragment of human immunoglobulin
Journal of Neuroimmunology, 2007IV immunoglobulin (IVIg) and its Fc fragment proved effective in preventing further progression of experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN) in the rat induced by whole bovine peripheral nerve myelin and shortening disease duration. This effectiveness was associated with significant differences in electrophysiological parameters including less ...

ROLE OF Fc FRAGMENTS IN INHIBITION OF XENOGENIC HYPERACUTE REJECTION BY INTRAVENOUS IMMUNOGLOBULIN
Transplantation, 1996It has been shown that a high dose administration of human intravenous immunoglobulin G (IVIG) prolonged the survival time of xenografted guinea pig heart in the rat. In this study, we compared the effectiveness of intact IVIG (I-IVIG), Fc fragments of IVIG (Fc-IVIG), and F(ab') fragments of IVIG (Fab-IVIG) in preventing xenogenic hyperacute rejection ...

Human Immunoglobulin A: Production of an Fc Fragment by an Enteric Microbial Proteolytic Enzyme
The Journal of Immunology, 1973Summary An Fc fragment has been prepared in good yield by proteolytic cleavage of human secretory and serum myeloma IgA with an enzyme recovered from the human gastrointestinal tract. The naturally occurring enzyme is of microbial origin and its activity is metal dependent.

NMR assignments of the N-glycans of the Fc fragment of mouse immunoglobulin G2b glycoprotein
Biomolecular NMR Assignments, 2021The Fc portion of immunoglobulin G (IgG) promotes defensive effector functions in the immune system by interacting with Fcγ receptors and complement component C1q. These interactions critically depend on N-glycosylation at Asn297 of each CH2 domain, where biantennary complex-type oligosaccharides contain microheterogeneities resulting primarily from ...

Expression of Fc Fragment Receptors of Immunoglobulin G (Fc?Rs) in Rat Hepatic Stellate Cells
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2005Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are now considered the major cell type in the liver mediating the development of liver fibrosis. Recently it was demonstrated that HSCs express membrane proteins involved in antigen presentation. We further evaluate immunological properties of HSCs by examining the expression and function of the Fc fragment of ...
