Inhibition or acceleration of fibrin polymerization by monoclonal immunoglobulins and immunoglobulin fragments

Thrombosis Research, 1984
A prolongation of the thrombin clotting time by at least 25% was found in the presence of 8 of 26 IgG myeloma proteins, 2 of 5 IgA proteins and 1 of 10 macroglobulins, in a concentration of 10 mg/ml. Normal pooled immunoglobulin in concentrations up to 83 mg/ml were inactive.

Allotypic Markers on Fab Fragments of Mouse Immunoglobulins

The Journal of Immunology, 1974
Abstract Allotypic determinants were detected on the Fab fragments of mouse IgG by guinea pig antisera prepared against polymerized Fab fragments of IgG from the C57BL and AKR strains. Different markers were detected by the two antisera. Indirect precipitation, with 125I-labeled Fab as ligand, was used for the assay.

New biologically active fragments of immunoglobulins

Survey of Immunologic Research, 1985
Abstract We developed a working hypothesis and relevant models based on it, which can be applied to investigations of immunoregulatory processes. Oligopeptides effecting signalling functions (activators or supressors of lymphocytes, macrophages, and other immune system cells) are postulated to emerge from protein precursors by limited proteolytic ...

The Relative Rate of Immunoglobulin Gamma 1 Fragmentation

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2011
The physicochemical stability of protein therapeutics is of significant pharmaceutical interest. Immunoglobulin gamma (IgG) hinge region fragmentation has recently garnered attention as an important degradation route of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies.

Aggregation of an immunoglobulin fragment by sulfhydryl oxidation

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1968
An immunoglobulin of the IgG family has been isolated from the serum of a patient with multiple myeloma. The IgG was subjected to plasmin digestion and the resulting Fab fragment was isolated and characterized. Incubation of this fragment in denaturing solvents, such as aqueous 8 M urea at either pH 3.4 or pH 8.2, resulted in the formation of a dimer ...

Studies on Fd Fragments of Human Immunoglobulins

Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1975
Earlier studies on antisera against Fab of pooled human IgG and IgA myeloma proteins disclosed the presence of class‐specific Fd antibodies, the demonstration of which required interaction of heavy and light chains. To extend our knowledge about the antigenic structure of the Fd fragment of human immunoglobulins, antisera were prepared in rabbits ...

Other consequences from monoclonal immunoglobulins/fragments

2018
Renal damage secondary to deposition of monoclonal immunoglobulin can occur due to accumulation of either light chains, heavy chains, or both. These include myeloma kidney (cast nephropathy), light-chain and heavy-chain amyloidosis, and light- and heavy-chain deposition disease. Renal damage secondary to deposition of both chains is far less common. In

Coprecipitation of some cryomacroglobulins with immunoglobulins and their fragments

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1965
Abstract Four cryomacroglobulins, isolated from different pathological sera, were found to coprecipitate on cooling with normal IGG. Coprecipitation occurred also with the immunoelectrophoretically fast component, and to a much lesser extent with the slow component, of papain digests of IGG and the cryomacroglobulins.

Enzymatic fragmentation of cation exchange membrane bound immunoglobulin G

Biotechnology Progress, 2010
AbstractImmunoglobulin G (IgG) was immobilized on a stack of microporous cation‐exchange membranes and pulsed with pepsin solution. Fc fragment and its sub‐fragments thus produced were removed along with the reaction flow‐through, whereas F(ab′)2 which remained membrane bound could subsequently be eluted in a pure form using salt.

Interaction of immunoglobulin fragments with the mammalian sperm acrosome

Journal of Experimental Zoology, 1978
AbstractA study was made of the interaction of immunoglobulins and immunoglobulin fragments from sera of rabbits and pigs with the acrosomes of ten species of mammalian spermatozoa to investigate previous reports of an interaction between normal serum and the acrosome.
