Phototherapy via Modulation of β‐Amyloid in Combating Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
This review introduces the light‐regulated Aβ aggregation, highlighting four applications: photodynamic therapy (PDT), photothermal therapy (PTT), photopharmacology, and photobiomodulation (PBM) systems. It also summarizes the current issues and proposes the prospects of photo‐induced modulation of Aβ aggregation and clearance as a therapeutic strategy

Tail behaviour of stationary distribution for Markov chains with asymptotically zero drift [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We consider a Markov chain on $R^+$ with asymptotically zero drift and finite second moments of jumps which is positive recurrent. A power-like asymptotic behaviour of the invariant tail distribution is proven; such a heavy-tailed invariant measure happens even if the jumps of the chain are bounded. Our analysis is based on test functions technique and

Application of humanized mice in the safety experiments of antibody drugs

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract of this review highlights the critical role of humanized mice in the safety evaluation of antibody drugs. First, the inherent immunogenicity of antibody drugs can lead to the production of antidrug antibodies and hypersensitivity reactions on repeated administration.

Gaussian-Chain Filters for Heavy-Tailed Noise with Application to Detecting Big Buyers and Big Sellers in Stock Market [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We propose a new heavy-tailed distribution --- Gaussian-Chain (GC) distribution, which is inspirited by the hierarchical structures prevailing in social organizations. We determine the mean, variance and kurtosis of the Gaussian-Chain distribution to show its heavy-tailed property, and compute the tail distribution table to give specific numbers ...

Roadmap to Nanomedical Applications: Nanotoxicology and In Vitro Guidelines for Lanthanide‐Doped Luminescence Nanothermometers

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Lanthanide‐based luminescence nanothermometry holds multifaceted potential for nanomedical applications, yet despite significant research advances, clinical translation of the engineered nanomaterials is still controversial and widely disputed. This is related to crucial nanotoxicological aspects that must be addressed at the preclinical level ...

Multivariate regular variation of heavy-tailed Markov chains [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
The upper extremes of a Markov chain with regulary varying stationary marginal distribution are known to exhibit under general conditions a multiplicative random walk structure called the tail chain. More generally, if the Markov chain is allowed to switch from positive to negative extremes or vice versa, the distribution of the tail chain increment ...

Controlled Growth of Oligophenylene‐Structures on Graphene for Facile Secondary functionalization.

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Functionalization of graphene derivatives is a common approach to tune material properties for use in various applications. Due to the low reactivity of the unsaturated carbon lattice of graphene, not only are few chemical approaches suitable for successful functionalization, such as those involving highly reactive in situ formed radical species or ...
