Serological Immunoglobulin-Free Light Chain Profile in Myasthenia Gravis Patients

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2018
Background. Serological levels of free immunoglobulin light chains (FLCs), produced in excess of heavy chains during synthesis of immunoglobulins by plasma cells, can be considered a direct marker of B cell activity in different systemic inflammatory ...

Serum free light chain assays not total light chain assays are the standard of care to assess Monoclonal Gammopathies

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia, 2016
The diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma is a challenge to the physician due to the non-specific symptoms (anemia, bone pain and recurrent infections) that are commonplace in the elderly population.

Computational strategies for dissecting the high-dimensional complexity of adaptive immune repertoires

open access: yes, 2017
The adaptive immune system recognizes antigens via an immense array of antigen-binding antibodies and T-cell receptors, the immune repertoire. The interrogation of immune repertoires is of high relevance for understanding the adaptive immune response in ...

Restriction of Individual Branched‐Chain Amino Acids has Distinct Effects on the Development and Progression of Alzheimer's Disease in 3xTg Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein restriction (PR) slows Alzheimer's disease (AD) in mice, and other benefits of PR are due to decreased branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs). We show that restricting any BCAA has benefits, with sex‐ and BCAA‐specific impacts on pathology, molecular signaling, and cognition.

Combinatorial functions of two chimeric antibodies directed to human CD4 and one directed to the a-chain of the human interleukin-2 receptor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The general feasibility of chimerization of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) has already been shown for a large number of them. In order to evaluate in vitro parameters relevant to immunosuppressive therapy, we have chimerized and synthesized two anti-CD4 ...

Nanoarchitectonics of Porous Carbons Templated by Inorganic Metal Oxides and Alkali Metal Salts for Energy and Environmental Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores inorganic metal oxides and metal salt nanoparticles templated porous carbons, highlighting their synthesis, structural features, and performance in energy and environmental applications. It critically compares template types, porosity control, and functional outcomes across recent literature.

Clinical recommendations for the measurement of serum free light chains and the emerging role of heavy/light chain pair analysis in the management of monoclonal gammopathies: When and how to use it?

open access: yesJournal of Applied Hematology, 2015
Protein and immunofixation electrophoresis are the laboratory backbone assays for testing multiple myeloma (MM) and related plasma cell proliferative diseases.

Gut Lactate Boosts Ruminococcus via Histone Lactylation to Mediate Time‐Restricted Feeding Protection in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRF enriches Ruminococcus, a bacterial genus producing SCFAs, and activates the epithelial HIF‐1α signaling pathway. This mechanism protects the colonic mucosa from inflammatory insults in colitis models. Mechanistically, gut lactate production during starvation and refeeding mediates H4K12la, which increases SLC9A3 expression and creates an acidic gut

A Dual‐Responsive Versatile Nanohybrid Orchestrating Tumor Elimination and Tumor‐Associated Osteolysis Restoration via Sequential Release

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The versatile CaO2@CuMOF@HAP nanohybrid demonstrates an outstanding MMP9/pH‐triggered release performance for sequential release of osteogenic growth peptide into deep‐seated tumor‐infiltrated bone destruction areas and dual ions into tumor cells, enabling efficient tumor‐associated osteolysis restoration and tumor elimination for more comprehensive ...

Tetrastigma Hemsleyanum Polysaccharide Suppresses Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer by Disrupting the Hippo‐YAP/TEAD4‐PDIA4 Axis and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) exhibits addiction to chronic endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, which sustains an aggressive metastatic phenotype through activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR). Here, we identify a previously unrecognized “ER‐stress addiction” axis in which the Hippo pathway effector TEAD4 directly ...
