DDIT3 Immunohistochemistry Is a Useful Tool for the Diagnosis of Myxoid Liposarcoma

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2020
Myxoid liposarcoma is a malignant adipogenic neoplasm characterized by prominent arborizing capillaries, occasional lipoblasts, and primitive-appearing spindle cells in a myxoid background.

Multiplex single‐cell profiling of putative cancer stem cell markers ALDH1, SOX9, SOX2, CD44, CD133 and CD15 in endometrial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

Immunohistochemistry in Irradiated Skin Tissue

open access: yes, 2016
Currently there is no effective treatment for radiation dermatitis that results from clinical or accidental radiation exposures. Radiation exposure can cause severe burns and sloughing of the skin and damage muscle and bone layers underneath the skin ...

Levels of feline infectious peritonitis virus in blood, effusions, and various tissues and the role of lymphopenia in disease outcome following experimental infection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Twenty specific pathogen free cats were experimentally infected with a virulent cat-passaged type I field strain of FIPV. Eighteen cats succumbed within 2-4 weeks to effusive abdominal FIP, one survived for 6 weeks, and one seroconverted without outward ...

Stroma gene signature predicts responsiveness to chemotherapy in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patient‐derived xenograft models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 4, Page 1075-1091, April 2025.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patient‐derived xenografts (PDAC‐PDXs) engrafted orthotopically in the pancreas of immunodeficient mice retain the main genetic and histopathological characteristics of the original human tumors. A 294 stroma gene signature differentiates between PDAC‐PDXs that are responsive to gemcitabine plus nab‐paclitaxel versus ...

Loss of maternal annexin A5 increases the likelihood of placental platelet thrombosis and foetal loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Antiphospholipid syndrome is associated with an increased risk of thrombosis and pregnancy loss. Annexin A5 (Anxa5) is a candidate autoantigen. It is not known, however, whether endogenous Anxa5 prevents foetal loss during normal pregnancy.

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

Unsupervised Prostate Cancer Detection on H&E using Convolutional Adversarial Autoencoders [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We propose an unsupervised method using self-clustering convolutional adversarial autoencoders to classify prostate tissue as tumor or non-tumor without any labeled training data. The clustering method is integrated into the training of the autoencoder and requires only little post-processing.

The possible prognostic role of histone deacetylase and transforming growth factor β/Smad signaling in high grade gliomas treated by radio-chemotherapy: a preliminary immunohistochemical study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive tumor of the central nervous system. Unfortunately, patients affected by this disease have a very poor prognosis, due to high level of invasiveness and resistance to standard therapies.

Immunohistochemistry for Diagnosis of Metastatic Carcinomas of Unknown Primary Site

open access: yesCancers, 2018
Immunohistochemistry has become an essential ancillary examination for the identification and classification of carcinomas of unknown primary site (CUPs).
