Morphofunctional Features of Glomeruli and Nephrons After Exposure to Electrons at Different Doses: Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, Apoptosis

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
Kidney disease has emerged as a significant global health issue, projected to become the fifth-leading cause of years of life lost by 2040. The kidneys, being highly radiosensitive, are vulnerable to damage from various forms of radiation, including ...

Short peptide perturbs spermatogenesis via immune microenvironment dysregulation and mitochondrial imbalance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In the blood–testis barrier, occludin is crucial for tight junctions. This study demonstrates that occludin‐targeting short peptides disrupt junction integrity, inducing immune cell infiltration, tumor necrosis factor‐α/interleukin‐6 secretion and mitochondrial dysfunction, ultimately triggering apoptosis.

KISS1 and KISS1R expression in the human and rat carotid body and superior cervical ganglion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
KISS1 and its receptor, KISS1R, have both been found to be expressed in central nervous system, but few data are present in the literature about their distribution in peripheral nervous structures.

Immunohistochemistry in gynecological pathology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecological Cancer, 2003
Although the majority of diagnoses in gynecological pathology are established on examination of routine hematoxylin and eosin stained sections, additional tests are occasionally required. Immunohistochemistry is widely used to provide additional diagnostic information in problematic cases.

Liver‐specific lncRNAs associated with liver cancers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are regulatory molecules with various functions. They are more tissue‐specific than proteins and can be used as potential biomarkers, particularly in cancer diagnostics and prognosis. In this review, we have systematically compiled all lncRNAs with exclusive expression in the human liver, verified their liver specificity ...
