A novel ligand in lymphocyte-mediated cytotoxicity: expression of the beta subunit of H+ transporting ATP synthase on the surface of tumor cell lines

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1994
Extracellular adenosine triphosphate (eATP) has been suggested to play a role in lymphocyte-induced tumor destruction. We now provide evidence that a protein responsible for ATP synthesis in mitochondria may also play a physiologic role in major ...

Free Radical Scavenging and Cytotoxic Activities of Substituted Pyrimidines [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A library of substituted pyrimidines was synthesized and evaluated for free radical scavenging, and in vitro cytotoxic activity in 3T3 cells. All compounds showed good free radical scavenging activity with IC50 values in the range of 42.9 + 0.31 to 438.3 3.3 {\mu}M as compared to the standard butylated hydroxytoluene having IC50 value of 128.83 2.

Attaining scalable storage-expansion dualism for bioartificial tissues [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The untenable dependence of cryopreservation on cytotoxic cryoprotectants has motivated the mining of biochemical libraries to identify molecular features marking cryoprotectants that may prevent ice crystal growth. It is hypothesized that such molecules may be useful across all temperatures eliminating cellular destruction due to equilibration ...

Understanding and measuring mechanical signals in the tumor stroma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review discusses cancer‐associated fibroblast subtypes and their functions, particularly in relation to extracellular matrix production, as well as the development of 3D models to study tumor stroma mechanics in vitro. Several quantitative techniques to measure tissue mechanical properties are also described, to emphasize the diagnostic and ...

Immunological recognition by artificial neural networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The binding affinity between the T-cell receptors (TCRs) and antigenic peptides mainly determines immunological recognition. It is not a trivial task that T cells identify the digital sequences of peptide amino acids by simply relying on the integrated binding affinity between TCRs and antigenic peptides. To address this problem, we examine whether the

CD44v, S1PR1, HER3, MET and cancer‐associated amino acid transporters are promising targets for the pancreatic cancers characterized using mAb

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Novel mAbs could detect cancer‐associated membrane proteins on various type of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) by flow cytometry with viable PDAC cells and by immunohistochemistry with PDAC tissues. Results of protein expression were substantiated by mRNA expression by The Cancer Genome Atlas.

Immunologic effects of arginine supplementation in tumor-bearing and non-tumor-bearing hosts.

open access: yesAnnals of Surgery, 1990
Supplemental dietary arginine has anti-tumor properties but the degree and mechanisms are unclear. In non-tumor-bearing CBA/J mice (n = 60), 1% arginine supplementation significantly enhanced thymic weight, spleen cell mitogenesis, and interferon ...

Strange Attractor in Immunology of Tumor Growth [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1997
The time delayed cytotoxic T-lymphocyte response on the tumor growth has been developed on the basis of discrete approximation (2-dimensional map). The growth kinetic has been described by logistic law with growth rate being the bifurcation parameter.
