Silicone Breast Implants as a Model System for Understanding Polymer Permeation in Soft Materials In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone breast implants are presented as a model system for understanding polymer permeation in vivo. Rather than representing material failure, “gel bleed” emerges from solution–diffusion transport‐mediated. By integrating polymer architecture, physicochemical transport, and biointerfacial processes, this review provides a unified framework that ...

The effect of NAT treatment on albumin immunoreactivity following SCI.

open access: yes, 2014
Albumin immunoreactivity at 10(A), within the injury epicentre (B) and at 10 mm caudal (C). Sham sections (D) demonstrated minimal immunoreactivity. Immunoreactivity was significantly increased at both 5 and 24 hours post-SCI. Representative images at 24

Conformal Thermoreversible Gelatin‐Based Gel for High‐Fidelity Electrophysiological Recording and Acute Peripheral Nerve Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoreversible gelatin‐based gel forms a soft, conformal bioelectronic interface on complex biological surfaces. The flowable precursor penetrates hair‐dense regions, solidifies in situ, and maintains low impedance through adaptive contact and hydration retention.

A functional role for small-conductance calcium-activated potassium channels in sensory pathways including nociceptive processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We investigated the role of small-conductance calcium-activated potassium (SK) and intermediate-conductance calcium-activated potassium channels in modulating sensory transmission from peripheral afferents into the rat spinal cord.

Digoxin-like immunoreactivity in early infant death

open access: yes, 1998
The aim of this study was to determine if the level of digoxin-like immunoreactivity in post-mortem sera obtained from infants differs according to the cause of death and if the level is related to age, post-mortem interval, cardiac pathology or adrenal ...

Bottom‐Up Engineering of a Human Neuromuscular System for Modeling Activity‐Induced Remodeling, Metabolic Stress, and Endothelial‐Modulated Excitability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using a bottom‐up approach, we engineered a human neuromuscular microchip to investigate distinct adaptive responses to neural stimulation and metabolic stress. Further integration of endothelial cells revealed their critical role in modulating neuromuscular excitability, establishing a comprehensive neurovascular‐muscular model.

Dirofilaria immitis proteins recognized by antibodies from individuals living with microfilaremic dogs

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries, 2020
Introduction: Dirofilaria immitis is a nematode that affects human health in several countries of the world. This study was conducted to examine whether serum samples from the owners of microfilaremic dogs present immunoreactivity to parasite proteins.

Single‐Cell Dissection of Therapy‐Induced Remodeling Uncovers a Fibroblast‐Driven Immunosuppressive Niche and Targetable Vulnerabilities in Lethal Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell longitudinal profiling reveals that androgen‐deprivation therapy induces a DPT+ fibroblast‐complement axis that suppresses macrophage inflammation and drives CD8+ T cell exhaustion in prostate cancer. Concurrently, resistant epithelial subpopulations persist and engage TSPAN1‐ and NRXN1‐mediated programs promoting CRPC and neuroendocrine ...

Disrupted TFEB/GDNF–cAMP/ATP Coupling Underlies Astrocytic Dysfunction and Depression in LRRK2 G2019S Parkinson's Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The LRRK2 G2019S mutation, a Parkinson's disease–linked variant, has been associated with depression‐like phenotypes, but mechanisms remain unclear. We chart age‐dependent behavioral changes and astrocyte reactivity in G2019S mice and define a pathway connecting LRRK2 to TFEB/GDNF signaling, cellular energetics, and inflammation.
