Clopidogrel anti-platelet effect: An evaluation by optical aggregometry, impedance aggregometry, and the Platelet Function Analyzer (PFA-100™)

open access: yesPlatelets, 2007
Platelet aggregation inhibition by clopidogrel may be suboptimal in 4-30% of patients. Traditionally, optical aggregometry is used to assess clopidogrel's anti-platelet effects by inhibition of ADP-induced aggregation in platelet rich plasma. Red blood cells are an important source of ADP and, thus, are known to modulate platelet function.

Electric impedance platelet aggregometry in cardiac surgery patients: A comparative study of two technologies

open access: closedPlatelets, 2015
Platelet function tests are suggested to assess platelet reactivity before cardiac and major non-cardiac surgery. Different point-of-care platelet function tests are available. Among these, electric impedance platelet aggregometry (EIPA) (Multiplate®, MP) is one of the most widely used techniques.

Quantification of platelet function - a comparative study of venous and arterial blood using a novel flow cytometry protocol

open access: yesPlatelets, 2022
Studies of platelet function in surgical patients often involve both arterial and venous sampling. Possible effects of different sampling sites could be important, but have not been thoroughly investigated.

Effects of pentoxifylline on canine platelet aggregation

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, 2021
Background Pentoxifylline can decrease platelet function in humans, but the anti‐platelet effects of pentoxifylline in dogs is unknown. The addition of a luciferin–luciferase reagent during platelet aggregometry can induce a dose‐dependent potentiation ...

Multiplate® Platelet Aggregation Findings Are Dependent on Platelet Count but Can Be Corrected by Use of a Ratio

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Impedance aggregometry (Multiplate®) detects the effects of platelet aggregation inhibitors and can predict thrombotic complications after coronary and cerebrovascular stent interventions.
