Prevalence of Aspirin Resistance in Patients with Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Replacement

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 105, Issue 5, Page 1230-1235, April 1, 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Congenital heart disease (CHD) patients with pulmonary valve failure may undergo transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR). Aspirin is often prescribed as long‐term therapy after TPVR to prevent thromboembolic events (TE). Aims We aimed to examine the prevalence of aspirin resistance within the CHD TPVR population.

The Utility of Total Thrombus‐Formation Analysis System (T‐TAS) in the Thrombosis and Hemostasis Field: A Scoping Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 201-211, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Background A wide variety of laboratory hemostasis tests is available, but the majority is plasma‐based, static and unable to assess platelet function and fibrin formation simultaneously. The Total Thrombus‐Formation Analysis System (T‐TAS) is a microchip‐based flow chamber system that simulates in vivo conditions for evaluating whole blood ...

Association of P2RY12 Gene Variants and Non‐Genetic Factors With Clopidogrel Responsiveness in Vietnamese Patients After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 39, Issue 5, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Clopidogrel response varies significantly among individuals due to multiple influencing factors. This study aimed to investigate the associations between P2RY12 gene variants, non‐genetic factors, and platelet aggregation in patients undergoing clopidogrel therapy and percutaneous coronary intervention.

Usefulness of multiple electrode aggregometry as a screening tool for bleeding disorders in a pediatric hospital

open access: yesPlatelets, 2019
Platelet function testing is a cornerstone in the diagnostic investigation of patients with a bleeding history. Multiple electrode aggregometry (MEA) has been shown to detect von Willebrand disease (VWD), platelet function disorders, and drug-induced ...

INDIVIDUAL ANTIPLATELET THERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH ATHEROSCLEROSIS OF LOWER EXTREMITIES: MYTH OR REALITY?

open access: yesМедицинский совет, 2018
The incidence of atherosclerosis in the arteries of the lower extremities is increasing all over the world, and studies conducted in several countries have shown that increased incidence of chronic obliterating diseases of lower extremity arteries is ...

Gravity sedimentation reveals functionally and morphologically different platelets in human blood

open access: yesPlatelets
In contrast to red blood cells, platelets float rather than sediment when a column of blood is placed in the gravitational field. By the analogy of erythrocyte sedimentation (ESR), it can be expressed with the platelet antisedimentation rate (PAR), which

Implementation of Whole-Blood Impedance Aggregometry for Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia Functional Assay and Case Discussion

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Clinical Pathology, 2019
The diagnosis of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) ideally requires a functional assay to confirm. 14C-serotonin release assay (SRA) as "gold standard" is technically challenging and unsuitable for routine use. We conducted a study to assess the performance of whole-blood impedance aggregometry (WBIA) as a simple and rapid HIT functional assay ...

The interaction between preoperative platelet count and function and its relationship with postoperative bleeding in cardiac surgery

open access: yesPlatelets, 2017
Platelet function tests (PFTs) before cardiac surgery are predictive of postoperative bleeding and can guide a correct timing of surgery in patients under P2Y12 inhibitors. Thrombocytopenia affects PFT and may determine postoperative bleeding.
