Measurement by Electrical Impedance Aggregometry of Porcine Platelets Response to Selected Physiological Agonists

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1985
Although the domestic swine is commonly employed for physiological studies of the coronary circulation, there is relatively little data available concerning the responsiveness in whole blood of normal porcine platelets to standard physiological agonists.

Safety, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of an original glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor in healthy volunteers: results of the clinical trial

open access: yesКардиоваскулярная терапия и профилактика, 2022
Aim. To study the tolerability, safety, pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics of single intravenous infusions of Angipur in healthy male volunteers.Material and methods. The Phase I trial included 20 healthy male volunteers (mean age, 30,8±7,7 years;

Perioperative changes of response to antiplatelet medication in vascular surgery patients.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
IntroductionReduced antiplatelet activity of aspirin (ALR) or clopidogrel (CLR) is associated with an increased risk of thromboembolic events. The reported prevalence data for low-responders vary widely and there have been few investigations in vascular ...

METAB‐HTX: prospective, longitudinal cohort study evaluating cardiac and systemic metabolism after heart transplantation

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 3152-3162, August 2025.
The METAB‐HTX trial is a prospective cohort study, evaluating cardiac and systemic metabolism among heart transplant recipients. Myocardial function, energetic and metabolism, allograft vasculopathy, allograft rejection, glucometabolism, lipometabolism, liver‐ and kidney function, leucocyte signatures and thromboinflammation will be evaluated ...

Platelet‐Activating Factor Promotes Neutrophil Activation and Platelet–Neutrophil Complex Formation

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Immunology, Volume 102, Issue 2, August 2025.
The present study analysed the effect of the proinflammatory mediator platelet‐activating factor (PAF) on neutrophils both in vitro and in an animal‐free ex vivo whole blood model, with a particular focus on the formation of platelet–neutrophil complexes (PNCs).

Evaluation of coagulopathy on veno-arterial ECMO (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation using platelet aggregometry and standard tests: A narrative review

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Critical Care Medicine, 2018
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is an established therapy for patients with cardiac failure, pulmonary failure or cardiopulmonary failure. To suppress the activation of the coagulation cascade, anticoagulation is necessary.

Insulin resistance, overweight, and obesity in apheresis donors: A call to reevaluate their eligibility—A prospective cohort study

open access: yesTransfusion, Volume 65, Issue 6, Page 1072-1082, June 2025.
Abstract Background Apheresis procedures and the infusion of acid‐citrate‐dextrose induce metabolic alterations that may influence glucose metabolism. Although insulin resistance (IR), overweight, and obesity are not exclusion criteria for blood donation, their impact during apheresis procedure and on post‐donation metabolic responses remains ...

The role of evidence-based algorithms for rotational thromboelastometry-guided bleeding management [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2019
Rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) is a point-of-care viscoelastic method and enables to assess viscoelastic profiles of whole blood in various clinical settings.

High Prevalence of Platelet Function Disorders in Women Referred for Surgical Management of Refractory Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

open access: yesHaemophilia, Volume 31, Issue 3, Page 485-493, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a common presenting symptom in women with bleeding disorders, yet haemostatic testing is sometimes overlooked, even when refractory HMB requires surgical intervention. Aim To determine the prevalence of bleeding disorders in women referred for surgical management of HMB and investigate screening ...

Low‐dose ASA therapy does not alter core or skin temperature during hot‐dry or warm‐humid heat stress (PSU HEAT project)

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 13, Issue 9, May 2025.
Abstract Nearly 40% of US adults over the age of 50 use aspirin (ASA) therapy for the primary or secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Systemic platelet cyclooxygenase inhibition with low‐dose ASA attenuates reflex cutaneous vasodilation and accelerates the rate of rise of core temperature during passive heating in middle‐aged adults.
