A predictive maintenance policy with imperfect monitoring

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2010
For many systems, failure is a very dangerous or costly event. To reduce the occurrence of this event, it is necessary to implement a preventive maintenance policy to replace the critical elements before failure. Since elements do not often exhibit incipient faults, they are replaced before a complete exploiting of their useful life.

Optimal lot-sizing problem with imperfect maintenance and imperfect production

International Journal of Systems Science, 2004
In this paper, we develop an integrated model for the joint determination of both economic production quantity and level of preventive maintenance (PM) for an imperfect production process. This process has a general deterioration distribution with increasing hazard rate.

Imperfect Preventive-Maintenance

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1979
This paper considers a periodic preventive maintenance (pm) policy with ``minimal repair'' at failure; pm is imperfect. A special case of failure (hazard) rate improvement is postulated wherein pm reduces the failure rate, but does not return the time origin all the way to zero.

On an imperfect preventive maintenance model

International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management, 2000
Presents two sequential preventive maintenance (PM) models. The first model can be viewed as an extension of Nakagawa’s model where the age reduction of the system is assumed to depend on the level of PM activities. Linear and nonlinear relationships between age reduction and PM level have been considered.

Condition-Based Maintenance with both Perfect and Imperfect Maintenance Actions

Annual Conference of the PHM Society, 2012
This paper deals with a condition-based maintenance (CBM) model considering both perfect and imperfect maintenance actions for a deteriorating system whose condition is aperiod- ically monitored according to a remaining useful life (RUL) based-inspection policy.

Maintenance policies for protection systems with imperfect inspection and imperfect repair

Reliability Engineering & System Safety
In this study, we investigate the optimal maintenance policies for stochastically deteriorating protection systems with imperfect inspections and imperfect repairs. We model the system's degradation as a continuous-time Markov chain with three states: good, poor, and failed.

Optimal maintenance time for imperfect maintenance actions on repairable product

Computers & Industrial Engineering, 2011
This paper develops a maintenance strategy for repairable products that combines imperfect maintenance actions at pre-scheduled times and minimal repair actions for failures. Under a power law process of failures, an expected total cost is developed that involves the sum of the total cost of imperfect preventive maintenances and the expected total cost

Optimal Maintenance Time Under Imperfect Preventive Maintenance

Vulnerability, Uncertainty, and Risk, 2014
The preventive maintenance (PM) is scheduled periodically to restore the system condition. However, PM activities cannot generally restore the system to as good as new condition but in an intermediate situation, which is called imperfect PM. The PM interval optimization is useful for improving system reliability.

Modelling and analysis of maintenance contract with imperfect preventive maintenance

2015 International Conference on Technology, Informatics, Management, Engineering & Environment (TIME-E), 2015
In this paper, we study two dimensional maintenance contracts for a dump truck operated in a mining industry. To keep the truck in a good operational condition, an imperfect preventive maintenance (PM) policy is applied. When the truck fails then corrective maintenance (CM) is done.

Optimal maintenance—replacement policy under imperfect maintenance

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 1992
Abstract During a given planning period, in order to have the system working at or below a fixed failure rate, it may be necessary to replace the system to minimize the expected total cost. Preventive maintenance (PM) or replacement should be performed whenever the system reaches the maximum failure rate.
