Influence of parallel pins on the angle deviation for placement of dental implants: an in vitro study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
The aim of the present study was to analyze and compare the angle deviation of two, four and six adjacent dental implants placed with and without straight parallel pins. Materials and Methods: Two hundred and forty (240) dental implants were selected and

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Targeted long-read nanopore sequencing as a complementary approach for detecting STRC variants and distinguishing the STRCP1 pseudogene

open access: yesScientific Reports
The stereocilin (STRC) gene is a significant contributor to mild-to-moderate sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), particularly in cases of biallelic STRC deletions and copy number alterations.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Intramedullary nail design for Thais with novel multi-femur shape optimization approach

open access: yesScientific Reports
Femoral fractures, often resulting from high-energy accidents, are commonly treated with intramedullary nails. Most currently used intramedullary nails are designed based on the anatomical characteristics of the Caucasian population, which are unsuitable

Accuracy of digital guided implant surgery: expert consensus on nonsurgical factors and their treatments

open access: yes口腔疾病防治
The standardized workflow of computer-aided static guided implant surgery includes preoperative examination, data acquisition, guide design, guide fabrication and surgery. Errors may occur at each step, leading to irreversible cumulative effects and thus

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Taper wear in total joint arthroplasty can be reliably assessed with various coordinate measuring systems

open access: yesScientific Reports
In total joint arthroplasty, wear and corrosion at modular taper junctions is an issue with clinical implications, as ions and wear debris can lead to adverse tissue reactions.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
