Comparison of the optical quality vision between real post-LASIK myopic laser surgery and the simulated implantation of a phakic IOL in low myopia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
A phakic intraocular lens (PIOL) of − 4.5 D was characterized from its wavefront aberration profile. A preclinical study was conducted using pre- and post-surgery data from four patients that had undergone myopic laser refractive surgery.

Comparison of Adhesion of Immortalized Human Iris-Derived Cells and Fibronectin on Phakic Intraocular Lenses Made of Different Polymer Base Materials

open access: yesMedicina
Background and Objectives: Posterior chamber phakic implantable contact lenses (Phakic-ICL) are widely used for refractive correction due to their efficacy and safety, including minimal corneal endothelial cell loss.

Challenges during femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery with posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery was performed in a patient with high myopia, who had undergone posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens surgery (Implantable Collamer Lens, ICL). During docking the machine erroneously focused the laser on the

Effect of pupil size on posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens vault measurements

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2021
Purpose: The aim of this study was to measure the implantable collamer lens (ICL) vault changes with anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) after the implantation of the Visian posterior chamber phakic ICL with a central hole (V4c) in ...

Pupillary capture of implantable collamer lens after oral antidepressants [PDF]

open access: yesDigital Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
We report the case of a 26-year-old man under treatment with the antidepressant drugs olanzapine and buspirone, which are associated with anticholinergic effects, in whom an implantable collamer lens (ICL) became spontaneously dislocated. ICL dislocation and pupil capture occurred 10 months postoperatively. The lens was successfully repositioned.

Transient crystalline lens deposits following the insertion of a phakic sulcus-fixated collamer intraocular lens in a hyperopic eye

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports, 2020
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to report crystalline lens deposit formation following ICL implantation for the correction of hyperopia. Observations: A 23-year-old male presented at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in 2008 seeking

Clinical Outcomes of Toric Implantable Collamer Lens implantation

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society, 2009
Purpose: To assess the efficacy of the Toric Implantable Collamer Lens (Toric ICL) to treat moderate to high myopic astigmatism. Methods: Toric ICL was implanted in 77 eyes of 40 patients with myopia (spherical equivalent [SE] between 3.5 and 18.5 diopters [D]) and astigmatism between 1 and 6 D.

A Maturity Model for Practical Explainability in Artificial Intelligence‐Based Applications: Integrating Analysis and Evaluation (MM4XAI‐AE) Models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Intelligent Systems, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in critical domains such as healthcare, law, and defense demands robust mechanisms to ensure transparency and explainability in decision‐making processes. While machine learning and deep learning algorithms have advanced significantly, their growing complexity presents persistent interpretability ...

Observing implantable collamer lens dislocation by panoramic ultrasound biomicroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesEye, 2015
Observe the image characteristics and dislocation of implantable collamer lenses (ICL) following their use to correct high myopia.A total of 127 patients (242 eyes); 64 females (50.3%) and 63 males (49.7%) were included in this retrospective study with ICL V4 implantation and mean spherical equivalent -9.08±2.04 diopters (D).
