Statement complementing the EFSA Scientific Opinion on application (EFSA‐GMO‐DE‐2011‐95) for the placing on the market of genetically modified maize 5307 for food and feed uses, import and processing under Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 from Syngenta Crop Protection AG taking into consideration an additional toxicological study

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2018
The GMO Panel was previously not in the position to complete the food/feed safety assessment of maize 5307 due to an inadequate 28‐day toxicity study necessary for an appropriate assessment of eCry3.1Ab protein.

SCSA based MATLAB pre-processing toolbox for 1H MR spectroscopic water suppression and denoising [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In vivo 1H Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) is a useful tool in assessing neurological and metabolic disease, and to improve tumor treatment. Different pre-processing pipelines have been developed to obtain optimal results from the acquired data ...

Assessment of genetically modified maize MON 89034 × 1507 × MIR162 × NK603 × DAS‐40278‐9 for food and feed uses, under regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 (application EFSA‐GMO‐NL‐2018‐151)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2022
Genetically modified maize MON 89034 × 1507 × MIR162 × NK603 × DAS‐40278‐9 was developed by crossing to combine five single events: MON 89034, 1507, MIR162, NK603 and DAS‐40278‐9.

Processing peptidase of Neurospora mitochondria [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Subunit 9 (dicyclohexylcarbodiimide binding protein, 'proteolipid') of the mitochondrial F1F0-ATPase is a nuclearly coded protein in Neurospora crassa.

How do individual cognitive differences relate to acceptability judgments?: A reply to Sprouse, Wagers, and Phillips [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Sprouse, Wagers, and Phillips (2012) carried out two experiments in which they measured individual differences in memory to test processing accounts of island effects. They found that these individual differences failed to predict the magnitude of island

Dynamics and Information Import in Recurrent Neural Networks

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2022
Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) are complex dynamical systems, capable of ongoing activity without any driving input. The long-term behavior of free-running RNNs, described by periodic, chaotic and fixed point attractors, is controlled by the statistics

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Assessment of genetically modified maize MON 94804 (application GMFF‐2022‐10651)

open access: yesEFSA Journal
Genetically modified (GM) maize MON 94804 was developed to achieve a reduction in plant height by introducing the GA20ox_SUP suppression cassette. The molecular characterisation and bioinformatic analyses do not identify issues requiring food/feed safety

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Characterization of the mitochondrial processing peptidase of Neurospora crassa [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The mitochondrial processing peptidase (MPP) of Neurospora crassa is constituted by an alpha- and a beta-subunit. We have purified alpha-MPP after expression in Escherichia coli while beta-MPP was purified from mitochondria.
