Mitochondrial processing peptidase regulates PINK1 processing, import and Parkin recruitment [PDF]

open access: yesEMBO reports, 2012
Mutations in phosphatase and tensin homologue‐induced kinase 1 (PINK1) cause recessively inherited Parkinson's disease (PD), a neurodegenerative disorder linked to mitochondrial dysfunction. In healthy mitochondria, PINK1 is rapidly degraded in a process involving both mitochondrial proteases and the proteasome.

Scientific Opinion on application EFSA-GMO-UK-2007-41 for the placing on the market of herbicide-tolerant genetically modified cotton MON 88913 for food and feed uses, import and processing under Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 from Monsanto [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2013
Cotton MON 88913 contains one insert consisting of the CP4 epsps expression cassette, providing herbicide tolerance. Bioinformatics-supported identification of hazards linked to the formation of new open reading frames caused by the insertion could not ...

Assessment of genetically modified maize DP4114 × MON 89034 × MON 87411 × DAS‐40278‐9 and subcombinations, for food and feed uses, under Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 (application EFSA GMO‐NL‐2020‐171)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2022
Genetically modified maize DP4114 × MON 89034 × MON 87411 × DAS‐40278‐9 was developed by crossing to combine four single events: DP4114, MON 89034, MON 87411 and DAS‐40278‐9.

Requirement of a Membrane Potential for the Posttranslational Transfer of Proteins into Mitochondsria [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Posttranslational transfer of most precursor proteins into mitochondria is dependent on energization of the mitochondria. Experiments were carried out to determine whether the membrane potential or the intramitochondrial ATP is the immediate energy ...
