Paternal Caffeine Exposure Programs Offspring Stress Vulnerability via Sperm Dlk1‐Dio3 Imprinting‐Directed Remodeling of a Novel Neural Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study elucidates that paternal preconception stress can drive offspring hyperresponsivity of the stress system via hypomethylation of a specific DNA region in sperm. This key link is confirmed in a cohort of prospective fathers: the epigenetic alteration is associated with elevated stress hormone levels.

Possibilities and Limitations of Prenatal Diagnosis of Rare Imprinting Syndromes: Prader–Willi Syndrome

open access: yesChildren
Background: Prader–Willi syndrome (PWS) is a multisystemic complex imprinting disorder. Prenatal diagnosis of PWS is still a challenge with non-specific ultrasound markers and limitations for diagnosis with non-invasive screening methods.

Bias‐Engineered Synthetic Antiferromagnets Hosting Sub‐20 nm Zero‐Field Skyrmions at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fully compensated synthetic antiferromagnet (SAF) multilayer exhibits a uniform state at zero field, without skyrmions. We use a SAF bias system to provide RKKY‐mediated exchange bias to the SAF multilayer, promoting zero‐field skyrmion stabilization and polarity control.

A case of an Angelman-syndrome caused by an intragenic duplication of UBE3A uncovered by adaptive nanopore sequencing

open access: yesClinical Epigenetics
Adaptive nanopore sequencing as a diagnostic method for imprinting disorders and episignature analysis revealed an intragenic duplication of Exon 6 and 7 in UBE3A (NM_000462.5) in a patient with relatively mild Angelman-like syndrome.

Genome-wide analysis reveals a complex pattern of genomic imprinting in mice.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2008
Parent-of-origin-dependent gene expression resulting from genomic imprinting plays an important role in modulating complex traits ranging from developmental processes to cognitive abilities and associated disorders.

A Pore or not a Pore? Understanding Pore Size Distributions of Non‐Graphitic Carbon and Atomically‐Dispersed M‐N‐C Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gassorption analysis of in‐plane functionalized carbons reveals small, uniform ultramicropore signatures as potential artefacts of specific adsorption of the probe gases. Low‐pressure Langmuir fitting links these features to distinct functionalities via adsorption energies, enabling straightforward quantification of otherwise inaccessible surface‐site ...

Mosaic genome-wide maternal isodiploidy: an extreme form of imprinting disorder presenting as prenatal diagnostic challenge

open access: yesClinical Epigenetics, 2017
Background Uniparental disomy of certain chromosomes are associated with a group of well-known genetic syndromes referred to as imprinting disorders. However, the extreme form of uniparental disomy affecting the whole genome is usually not compatible ...

How Proton Incorporation Reshapes Lattice Dynamics In BaSnO3‐Type Proton Conductors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yttrium‐doped BaSnO3 exhibits isotope‐dependent changes in its low‐energy vibrational density of states upon hydration. Comparison of dry, H2O‐, and D2O‐treated samples re‐veals mass‐dependent phonon renormalization linked to proton dynamics near oxygen va‐cancies, providing experimental insight into hydrogen‐coupled lattice excitations in proton ...

Temperature‐Graded Deposition of HfZrOx for Ferroelectric Capacitors With Enhanced Polarization, Reliability, and Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Temperature‐graded ALD of HfZrOx (HZO) enables strain‐enhanced stabilization of the ferroelectric o‐phase, achieving simultaneously high polarization, fast switching, and robust endurance in BEOL‐compatible FeCAPs. ABSTRACT Ferroelectric Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 (HZO) capacitors hold great promise for next‐generation nonvolatile memory and logic applications ...
