The impulse characteristics of porcelain insulators

Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers - Part I: General, 1941
This report deals with the flashover voltage of insulators and gaps subjected to impulse voltages of different wave-shapes, with the relation between crest voltage and time to flashover at voltages above the minimum required for flashover, with breakdown while the voltage is rising rapidly, with the simultaneous application of impulse and alternating ...

Characteristics of Impulsive Suicide Attempts and Attempters

Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, 2002
Suicide attempts often are impulsive, yet little is known about the characteristics of impulsive suicide. We examined impulsive suicide attempts within a population‐based, case‐control study of nearly lethal suicide attempts among people 13–34 years of age.

Complex Impulses and Their Shear Characteristics

Cybernetics and Systems Analysis, 2016
The authors introduce the concepts of complex impulse, shear measure of intersection of two impulses, comb impulse, and chaotic impulse. The upper and lower estimates of the probability of at least one intersection are given, and the theorem about the upper estimates in intersection of comb impulses is formulated and proved.

Impulse Characteristics in Rapid Movement

Journal of Motor Behavior, 1986
Three untested assumptions of the impulse-variability model were examined in two experiments utilizing rapid, uni-planar limb movements. Experiment 1 varied movement distance (A) and movement time (MT) in a rapid-timing paradigm where the subject moved a lever through a certain distance in a certain time.

Impulse radio multipath characteristics and diversity reception

ICC '98. 1998 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Record. Affiliated with SUPERCOMM'98 (Cat. No.98CH36220), 2002
Delay-and-sum beamforming is applied to both ideal and measured ultra-wideband (UWB) signals. The results of propagation measurements are also used directly to estimate the performance of an UWB communication system and to characterize design tradeoffs.

Evaluation of the multipath characteristics of the impulse radio channel

Ninth IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (Cat. No.98TH8361), 2002
In order to estimate the performance of impulse radio communication systems, a characterization of the channel is required. In particular, knowledge of the multipath angle and time-of-arrival distributions is useful for predicting the performance of diversity reception schemes. In this paper, the CLEAN algorithm is applied to ultra-wide bandwidth (UWB)
