The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Numerical simulation of waste landfill biodegradation: Fitting experimental data
Landfill remains economically viable for the disposal of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), however, experiences of failure in several Colombian and global locations, lead to soil, water, and air pollution, harming ecosystems, and biodiversity.

We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Improving route development using convergent retrosynthesis planning
Retrosynthesis consists of recursively breaking down a target molecule to produce a synthesis route composed of readily accessible building blocks. In recent years, computer-aided synthesis planning methods have allowed a greater exploration of potential

In silico estimates of the free energy rates in growing tumor spheroids [PDF]
The physics of solid tumor growth can be considered at three distinct size scales: the tumor scale, the cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) scale and the sub-cellular scale. In this paper we consider the tumor scale in the interest of eventually developing a

Risk and reward: extending stochastic glycaemic control intervals to reduce workload
Background STAR is a model-based, personalised, risk-based dosing approach for glycaemic control (GC) in critically ill patients. STAR provides safe, effective control to nearly all patients, using 1–3 hourly measurement and intervention intervals ...

APOBEC-related mutagenesis and neo-peptide hydrophobicity: implications for response to immunotherapy. [PDF]
Tumor-associated neo-antigens are mutated peptides that allow the immune system to recognize the affected cell as foreign. Cells carrying excessive mutation load often develop mechanisms of tolerance.
