Comparative study of in situ and ex situ MgB2 films deposited by pulsed laser deposition [PDF]
Two types of MgB2 films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) with in situ and ex situ annealing processes respectively. Significant differences in properties between the two types of films were found. The ex situ MgB2 film has a Tc of 38.1K, while the in situ film has a depressed Tc of 34.5K.

Building Late-Type Spiral Galaxies by In-Situ and Ex-Situ Star Formation [PDF]
We analyze the formation and evolution of the stellar components in "Eris", a 120 pc-resolution cosmological hydrodynamic simulation of a late-type spiral galaxy. The simulation includes the effects of a uniform UV background, a delayed-radiative-cooling scheme for supernova feedback, and a star formation recipe based on a high gas density threshold ...

Superconducting MgB2 thin films by pulsed laser deposition [PDF]
Growth of MgB2 thin films by pulsed laser deposition is examined under ex situ and in situ processing conditions. For the ex situ process, Boron films grown by PLD were annealed at 900 C with excess Mg. For the in situ process, different approaches involving ablation from a stoichiometric target under different growth conditions, as well as multilayer ...

Experimental Investigation on the Propagation of Hydraulic Fractures through Coal-Rock Interfaces
Although hydraulic fracturing has been one of the primary stimulation methods for coal-bed methane (CBM) exploration, it is difficult to be applied in soft and low-permeability coal seams due to the instability of wells in such geological structures.
