Using herbarium collections to study genetic responses to global change
Summary Earth's c. 406 million herbarium specimens represent a largely untapped resource of genetic data that could transform our understanding of global plant populations. Advances in DNA sequencing have made the extraction of genetic data from these preserved specimens increasingly feasible, enabling new insights into plant biodiversity and ...

ABSTRACT Understanding insect responses to global climate change involves identifying strategies used during past climate oscillations. Phylogeography offers a powerful framework to unravel how historical climatic and geological events have shaped the spatial genetic patterns of species, providing critical insights into evolutionary processes, whereas ...

A reproductive biology study of Labeo dero reveals a July breeding peak with female GSI reaching 14.9 %. Induced breeding trials establish optimal doses of 6 mg kg−1 (♀) and 3 mg kg−1 (♂) carp pituitary extract (94.7 % spawning) and 0.6 mL kg−1 (♀) and 0.3 mL kg−1 (♂) Ovuhom (82.3 % spawning).

Note on Estimates of the Inbreeding Coefficient through Study of Pedigrees and Isonymous Marriages
Crow and Mange (1965) developed a method to estimate the inbreeding coefficient (F) through an ingenious surname analysis. Such formulations assume a regularity of transmission of surnames, monophyletism, and random occurrence of consanguineous marriages.

ABSTRACT Beta mannosidosis and Mucopolysaccharidosis IIID are two autosomal recessive lysosomal storage diseases identified in Anglo‐Nubian goats. Even though they are well characterized from the clinical and molecular point of view, there is a gap in studies aiming to understand distribution and dissemination risk in goat populations throughout the ...

Conservation Status of Two Italian Local Poultry Breeds: Faraona Camosciata and Oca Padovana
ABSTRACT The present study aimed to assess the conservation status and characterize the phenotypic and genomic diversity of two endangered Italian poultry genetic resources to guide their conservation plans. Blood samples and morphometric data were collected on 50 Faraona Camosciata (FAC, Numida meleagris) and 50 Oca Padovana (OPD, Anser anser) adult ...

ABSTRACT The intramuscular fat (IMF) content is an important indicator of meat quality, affecting the sensory properties of meat. IMF is a complex trait with polygenic nature. This research aimed to identify differentially expressed (DE) genes and key transcription factors (TFs) associated with IMF deposition in the liver of two rabbit lines ...
