Dual Blockade of LILRB1 and LILRB2 Enhances Antiviral Immune Responses in SIV Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual LILRB1/B2 blockade with mac20G10 reshapes myeloid activation during acute SIV infection by targeting LILRB1 and LILRB2 on myeloid cells. This treatment enhances CD80 expression on selected myeloid subsets and increases plasma IFN‐λ, IL‐8, and IL‐1RA.

Hepatitis C : by the numbers [PDF]

open access: yes
Hepatitis C is among the deadliest infectious diseases in the United States. In 2019, approximately 14,242 death certificates listed hepatitis C as an underlying or contributing cause of death in the United States and the number of people newly infected ...

Programmable Nanobody‐Targeting Chimeras Enable Intracellular Viral Protein Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nab‐TAC enables targeted degradation of HBV surface antigen (HBsAg) in vivo. By fusing nanobody‐based recognition domains with programmable proteasome‐recruiting degradation signals, Nab‐TAC reduces HBsAg levels in a hydrodynamic HBV mouse model. ABSTRACT Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains a major global health challenge, largely because

The NADPH oxidase NOX4 regulates redox and metabolic homeostasis preventing HCC progression

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Loss of NOX4 in HCC tumor cells induces metabolic reprogramming in a Nrf2/MYC‐dependent manner to promote HCC progression. Abstract Background and Aims The NADPH oxidase NOX4 plays a tumor‐suppressor function in HCC. Silencing NOX4 confers higher proliferative and migratory capacity to HCC cells and increases their in vivo tumorigenic potential in ...

First Molecular Detection and Characterization of Fowl Aviadenovirus Serotype 11 from Broiler Chickens in Chile

open access: yesMicrobiology Research
Fowl aviadenovirus (FAdV) is a member of the Aviadenovirus genus within the Adenoviridae family. FAdVs are divided into five species based on genomic differences: Fowl aviadenovirus A to Fowl aviadenovirus E (FAdV-A to FAdV-E).

Mallory–Denk-bodies: Lessons from keratin-containing hepatic inclusion bodies

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease, 2008
Inclusion bodies are characteristic morphological features of various neuronal, muscular and other human disorders. They share common molecular constituents such as p62, chaperones and proteasome subunits. The proteins within aggregates are misfolded with increased beta-sheet structure, they are heavily phosphorylated, ubiquitinylated and partially ...

Gestational Hypoxia Disrupts Medial Ganglionic Eminence Progenitor Dynamics and Interneuron Development in Schizophrenia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FES‐derived MGE spheroids exhibit progenitor‐stage alterations in developmental trajectory and hypoxia‐responsive transcriptional programs, followed by functional disruption. Gestational hypoxia recapitulates impaired progenitor proliferation, shortened cell‐cycle progression, interneuron developmental abnormalities, and schizophrenia‐like behaviors in

Mitochondrial stress in advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis associated with chronic hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis C, or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Adaptive mitochondrial mechanisms allow mitochondrial resilience and prevent the worsening of fibrosis, while deregulation of these mechanisms promotes the progression from no/minimal‐mild (F0‐F2) fibrosis to advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis (F3‐F4). Abstract Background and Aims Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection causes oxidative stress (OS) and alters ...

Does limited virucidal activity of biocides include duck hepatitis B virucidal action? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: There is agreement that the infectivity assay with the duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) is a suitable surrogate test to validate disinfectants for hepatitis B virucidal activity.
