Pasireotide Long-Acting Release Treatment for Diabetic Cats with Underlying Hypersomatotropism [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Long‐term medical management of hypersomatotropism (HS) in cats has proved unrewarding. Pasireotide, a novel somatostatin analogue, decreases serum insulin‐like growth factor 1 (IGF‐1) and improves insulin sensitivity in cats with HS when ...

Abstract Increased urinary albumin excretion is a strong predictor for cardiovascular events in persons with and without decreased glomerular filtration rate and can be assessed with the urinary albumin‐to‐creatinine ratio (UACR), which is a selective, sensitive, and convenient method for patients.

Pleiotropic effects of incretins
Drugs that augment the incretin system [glucagon like peptide (GLP) agonists and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors] represent a novel class of anti-hyperglycemic agents that have shown to improve the health and survival of beta-cells (improvement in postprandial hyperglycemia) and suppress glucagon (improvement in fasting hyperglycemia).

ABSTRACT Introduction Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RA) improve outcomes in heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction. Whether GLP‐1 RA prevent new‐onset HF in Type 2 diabetes or obesity requires further investigation. Methods We performed an updated meta‐analysis of randomized placebo‐controlled trials (RCT) of treatment ...
