The influence of incubation periods on photosynthesis–irradiance curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In phytoplankton primary production studies, samples for the determination of photosynthesis versus irradiance relationship ( P–I) are usually incubated at several irradiance levels during a fixed time period, commonly 2–4 h.

Predicting Quarantine Failure Rates

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2004
Preemptive quarantine through contact-tracing effectively controls emerging infectious diseases. Occasionally this quarantine fails, however, and infected persons are released.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Temporal characterization of rock dynamic destruction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dynamic strength tests published in literature have been analysed by structuraltemporal damage criteria. Parameter τ - incubation time - describing material stability behaviour under high-rate influences have been estimated for Kimachi sandstone, Inada ...

Surface morphological evolutions on single crystal films by strong anisotropic drift-diffusion under the capillary and electromigration forces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The morphological evolution of voids at the unpassivated surfaces and the sidewalls of the single crystal metallic films are investigated via computer simulations by using the novel mathematical model developed by Ogurtani relying on the fundamental ...

Effects of gold and green kiwifruit juices on the physicochemical properties and tenderness of pork loin and antioxidant activity during incubation (24 h) in a pork model system [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Bioscience
Objective Although pork loins is not a tough meat, they need to develop meat products with a soft texture for the elderly. This study focused on the physicochemical properties and tenderness characteristics of pork loin injected with green kiwifruit ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A Method for the Rapid Cultivation of Desulfovibrio aestuarii on Filter Membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1958
The cultivation of sulfate-reducing bacteria on agar plates is a somewhat involved and time-consuming process. This is partly due to the requirement for fairly strict anaerobic conditions but mainly because of the length of the incubation period which ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Effects of ambient temperature and 37 °C on biological characteristics of processed oligoasthenoteratozoospermic spermatozoa

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Reproduction
Objective: To assess the biological characteristics of human spermatozoa at room temperature (RT, 25 °C) and 37 °C at different time intervals (0, 0.5, 2, and 24 h) post liquefaction.
