Isolation, molecular characterization and preliminary screening for probiotic properties of lactobacillus fermentum from indigenous dahi [PDF]
Indigenous dahi is an analogue to fermented milk product of Pakistan produce by uncharacterized strains of LAB. It hides lots of health beneficial properties and unexplored micro-flora.

Genetic Diversity and Symbiotic Efficiency of Indigenous Common Bean Rhizobia in Croatia
Nodule bacteria (rhizobia) in symbiotic associations with legumes enable considerable entries of biologically fixed nitrogen into soil. Efforts are therefore made to intensify the natural process of symbiotic nitrogen fixation by legume inoculation ...

Mezcal: indigenous Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains and their potential as starter cultures [PDF]
In this study, 19 indigenous mezcal Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains were screened for their tolerance to grow under different stress conditions and their potential use in fermentation. All strains were able to tolerate pH value of 3, significant levels of glucose (30%), ethanol (12% v/v), and temperature of 37 °C.

Antimicrobial properties of indigenous Lactobacillus sakei strain
The strain I 154 of Lactobacillus sakei has been isolated from traditionally fermented sausages in the course of the realization of the international project (INCO PROJECT No ICA4-CT-2002-10037). This strain exhibited the ability for bacteriocin production.

Competitiveness of a Bradyrhizobium sp. Strain in Soils Containing Indigenous Rhizobia
The success of rhizobial inoculation on plant roots is often limited by several factors, including environmental conditions, the number of infective cells applied, the presence of competing indigenous (native) rhizobia, and the inoculation method. Many approaches have been taken to solve the problem of inoculant competition by naturalized populations ...
