Cytomegalovirus (CMV) remains the most important infection in the immunocompromized host even in the era of effective therapy. CMV is usually acquired early in life and can be transmitted by contact with infected body fluids. In the immunocompetent population, primary infection is almost always of little clinical consequence.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.
