NATIONAL INDIVIDUAL IDENTIFICATION OF HORSES

Australian Veterinary Journal, 1977
Methods of equine identification including signalment, blood typlng, tattooing and freeze marking are discussed. A new system of individually identifying horses with an unalterable freeze mark is proposed. Unalterable numerical and alphabetical symbols have been developed to apply a registration number to the animal.

Identification of the Edentulous Individual: An Investigation into the Accuracy of Radiographic Identifications*

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2010
Abstract:  The dental identification of edentulous individuals can be challenging based on the lack of antemortem materials and unique features visible on radiographs. The constant resorption of the alveolar ridges further complicates the process. The purpose of this study was to quantify the error rate and reliability of dental identifications based ...

ECG to Individual Identification

2008 IEEE Second International Conference on Biometrics: Theory, Applications and Systems, 2008
This paper presents an individual identification system using single lead electrocardiogram (ECG). The proposed techniques for P and T wave delineation are based on time derivative and adaptive thresholding. The performance of proposed delineators is evaluated on manually annotated Physionet QT database.

Checkwriter Identification—Individuality

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 1982
Abstract Checkwriters are established machines in the contemporary business world and, as such, are an established vehicle of criminal action. This paper offers practical suggestions for the identification of checkwriters through their impressions from information gained through original research.

Identification of a Bmh in a Chinese Individual

Clinical Laboratory
The Bombay and para-Bombay blood groups are rare blood types that are significant to clinical blood transfusions. Accurate para-Bombay blood group identification is important for the safety of transfusions.Serological and molecular biology methods were used to detect one case of ABO blood type.

SNPs for individual identification

Forensic Science International: Genetics Supplement Series, 2008
Abstract Using population genetics criteria for SNPs for individual identification (IISNPs) – SNPs having nearly maximum informativeness in populations from all parts of the world – on a reduced screening panel of 31 populations, those most likely to be forensically relevant, we have identified a panel of 108 candidate SNPs that meet our ...

Individual identification in acoustic recordings

Trends in Ecology & Evolution
Recent advances in bioacoustics combined with acoustic individual identification (AIID) could open frontiers for ecological and evolutionary research because traditional methods of identifying individuals are invasive, expensive, labor-intensive, and potentially biased.

Individual identification using electrocardiogram morphology

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurements and Applications (MeMeA), 2013
The use of electrocardiogram as biometric has raised attention in the last decade and a wide variety of ECG features were explored to verify the feasibility of such a signal. In this work the authors aim to describe a simple template based approach to the electrocardiographic biometric identification using the morphology of individual's heartbeat.

Individual identification using personality traits

Journal of Network and Computer Applications, 2010
In this article, a pioneer study is conducted to evaluate the possibility of identifying people through their personality traits. The study is conducted using the answers of a population of 734 individuals to a collection of 206 items. These items aim at measuring five common different personality traits usually called the big five.

Identification of the Individual

It is critical in any investigation that any individual who has committed a crime can be positively identified. Identification can be achieved through the analysis of DNA or, as explored here in this chapter, using various features of the body and the impressions left by them as they can also provide a means of identification and individualisation ...
