SNPs for a universal individual identification panel

Human Genetics, 2009
An efficient method to uniquely identify every individual would have value in quality control and sample tracking of large collections of cell lines or DNA as is now often the case with whole genome association studies. Such a method would also be useful in forensics. SNPs represent the best markers for such purposes.

Texture as the basis for individual tree identification

Information Sciences, 2006
Recognizing plants from imagery is a complex task due to their irregular nature. In this research, three tree species, Japanese yew (Taxus cuspidata Sieb. & Zucc.), Hicks yew (Taxus x media), and eastern white pine (Pinus strobus L.), were identified using their textural properties.

Identification, assessment and treatment of individual patients

2011
This chapter considers three groups, medically unexplained symptoms, somatoform disorders, and functional somatic syndromes. Describing the nature of these groups, it talks about their prevalence in cross-sectional studies in primary, secondary care and population-based studies.

Molecular Identification of Individual Nano-Objects

Analytical Chemistry, 2009
Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) run in the event-by-event bombardment/detection mode provides a unique ability to obtain molecular information from single nano-objects, since assays are based on secondary ion coemission from single impacts. The characterization of individual nano-objects is demonstrated with negatively charged polymer spheres ...

System for description and identification of individuals

[1991 Proceedings] 6th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference, 2002
A system for the analysis and automated identification of a human face is described. The analysis of a human face is defined as an individual description of the face given in the form of its subobjects and their relations. Model-based analysis of a human face is founded on the anthropological model of a human face in norma facialis. The system consists

Optimal Identification of Mismeasured Individuals

Applied Measurement in Education, 1996
Optimal appropriateness measurement statistically provides the most powerful methods for identifying individuals who are mismeasured by a standardized psychological test or scale. These methods use a likelihood ratio test to compare the hypothesis of normal responding versus the alternative hypothesis that an individual's responses are aberrant in some

mRNA for Body Fluid and Individual Identification

ELECTROPHORESIS
ABSTRACTBiological stains are one of the most important pieces of evidence, playing a multifaceted role in forensic investigations. An integral facet of forensic practice involves the identification of body fluids, typically achieved through chemical and enzymatic reactions.

ECG as a biometric for individual's identification

2017 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering - Boumerdes (ICEE-B), 2017
In this paper, we investigate a new method to analyze electrocardiogram (ECG) signal, extract the features, for the real time human identification using single lead human electrocardiogram. The proposed system extracts special parts of the ECG signal starting from the P wave, the QRS complex and ending with the T wave for that we used the ...

Social Identification and the Adaptation of the Individual

Sociological Research, 1996
A transitional society is a unique testing area for empirical research into several parameters of individual and group behavior the study of which is more difficult in a stable society. The global transformation of socioeconomic relations is causing changes in systems of values at the societal, group, and individual levels. The ineffectiveness of usual

Individuals Identification Using Tooth Structure

2011
The use of automated biometrics-based personal identification systems is an omnipresent procedure. Many technologies are no more secure, and they have certain limitations such as in cases when bodies are decomposed or burned. Dental enamel is one of the most mineralized tissues of an organism that have a post-mortem degradation resistance.
