Evidence for individual differences in the radiosensitivity of human skin

European Journal of Cancer, 1992
Previously published clinical data have been re-analysed to investigate individual differences in the radiosensitivity of human skin. In the clinical studies, acute and late skin reactions were recorded for 254 breast cancer patients receiving radiotherapy to the internal mammary nodes following simple or modified radical mastectomy.

Gender Bias in Individual Radiosensitivity and the Association With Genetic Polymorphic Variations [PDF]

open access: yesRadiotherapy and Oncology, 2016
To assess the extent of variation in radiosensitivity between individuals, gender-related dissimilarity and impact on the association with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).Survival curves of 152 fibroblast cell strains derived from both gender were generated.

Individual Radiosensitivity: A Key Issue in Radiation Protection

open access: yesInternational Journal of Low Radiation, 2013
Immunofluorescence that permits the detection of nuclear targets specific to DNA damage signalling and repair have completely renewed the approach of individual radiosensitivity. It is a concern in radiotherapy in which radiosensitivity is responsible for the development of adverse side-effects in normal tissues in absence of any mistake in the dose ...

Individual human radiosensitivity: Cytogenetic aspects

Cytology and Genetics, 2007
A plan of cytogenetic investigations of individual radiosensitivity of relatively healthy individuals is developed and evaluated in accordance with the basic assumptions of radiation cytogenetics through the use of a chromosomal test (G2 assay).

Chromosomal Aberrations and in Vitro Radiosensitivity: Intra-Individual Versus Inter-Individual Variability

Toxicology Letters, 2004
In order to assess the applicability of the micronucleus (MN) and G2 assays as biomarkers of in vitro radiosensitivity and cancer susceptibility, we investigated the inter- and intra-individual variation of these endpoints. For the MN assay unstimulated blood cultures from 57 healthy donors were exposed in vitro to 3.5 Gy Co gamma-rays and for the G2 ...

Evidence for Predictive Validity of Blood Assays to Evaluate Individual Radiosensitivity

International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, 2006
An escalation in standard irradiation dose ensuring improved local tumor control is estimated, but this strategy would require the exclusion of the most sensitive individuals from treatment. Therefore, fast and reliable assays for prediction of the individual radiosensitivity are urgently required.Seven parameters in lymphocytes of 40 patients with ...

[Tumor and individual radiosensitivity. An introduction].

Cancer radiotherapie : journal de la Societe francaise de radiotherapie oncologique, 1999
This text is intended to introduce the following articles, which correspond to the lectures given at the "Radiosensitivity" session of the 1998 SFRO Meeting. We first underline the somewhat disappointing results obtained so far for evaluating tumoral radiosensitivity. However, a few new tests could bring some hope in a not-too distant future.

[Radiosensitivity: evidence of an individual factor].

Medecine sciences : M/S, 2013
What more natural than a stress response that would vary among individuals? The individual factor has been pointed out in numerous medical research areas, was alluded to in the antiquity under the term "idiosyncrasy" and used by Claude Bernard in the 19th century.

G2 Chromosomal Radiosensitivity Assay for Testing Individual Radiation Sensitivity

Methods in Molecular Biology, 2019
The G2 chromosomal radiosensitivity assay or, simply G2 assay, measures the number of chromatid type aberrations induced by radiation in G2 phase. Typically, asynchronous growing cells are irradiated with less than 1 Gy and allowed 0.5-1 h for cells in mitosis, at the time of irradiation, to transit into G1.
