Coral radiocarbon constraints on the source of the Indonesian throughflow
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 1997Radiocarbon variability in Porites spp. corals from Guam and the Makassar Strait (Indonesian Seaway) was used to identify the source waters contributing to the Indonesian throughflow. Time series with bimonthly resolution were constructed using accelerator mass spectrometry.

Journal of Climate Change Society
Journal references provide an overview of the current between the Pacific and Indian Oceans, referred to as the Indonesian Throughflow (Arlindo), which is part of the global thermohaline circulation that impacts the dynamics of the atmosphere and oceans by changing the circulation and characteristics of the sea water masses of the two oceans ...

Seasonal Variation of the Indonesian Throughflow in Makassar Strait
Journal of Physical Oceanography, 2012Abstract The seasonal variation of Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) transport is investigated using ocean general circulation model experiments with the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM). Twenty-eight years (1981–2008) of ⅓° Indo-Pacific basin HYCOM simulations and three years (2004–06) from a global HYCOM simulation are analyzed.

Intrinsic interannual variability of the Indonesian Throughflow
The Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) carries an annual average of about 15 Sv of water from the Pacific through the Indonesian Seas Into the Indian Ocean, and its year-to-year variation ranges from 1 to 4 Sv. A 10-member ensemble of 41-year integrations of a semi-global eddy-resolving oceanic general circulation model is examined to explore the intrinsic ...Ryo Furue +2 more

Physical oceanography of the present day Indonesian Throughflow
Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 2011Abstract The Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) transfers c . 15 Sv (1 Sv=10 6 m 3 s −1 ) of relatively cool, fresh water from the tropical Pacific Ocean to the tropical Indian Ocean.

A Simple Model of the Indonesian Throughflow and Its Composition
Journal of Physical Oceanography, 1993Abstract A simple analytical model of the closure of the wind-driven gyres in the tropical west Pacific is developed to illustrate the role of Halmahera and variations in the Pacific wind stress on the water mass composition of the flow from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean through the Indonesian archipelago—that is, the Indonesian Throughflow.
